Serbian language problem Empty Serbian language problem

Post by Raziel21 September 14th 2010, 5:15 pm

Hello, everyone!

I have a huge problem with my members because of the both "српски"[serbian] and ''српски ћирилица''[basically the same thing as srpski a.k.a serbian]

Both of them seems to have an enormous amount of spelling misinterpretations based upon both Croatian and Slovenian languages that use Serbian as default yet with a lot of different types of words.

I have to tell something about Serbian language. It has two letters, one is Latinate [Latinica], other is Cyrilic [Cirilica, Ћирилица]. Both of them are official corresponding to the Culture ministry and both are used in daily life. Yet, ever since the Balkan wars something called "Serbo-Croatian dictionary" became obsolete. Croatians didn't want to have anything with the Serbian language therefore producing different Serbian language based notations. It's typically the same language but words are totally different for certain things. Bosnian is kind of more to the Serbian, yet they use a notation with adding "ij" in different things like "Mlijeko" (Milk), "Dijete"(Child), while Serbian language pronounces "Mleko"(Milk), "Dete"(Child). Some Croatian pronounce "Mliko", "Dite". It's a minor difference, yet it leaves a lot of forum users extremely uneasy asking me, a forum administrator, to fix the problem. I believe that I'll not be the only Serbian guy with this forum problem because to us it represents a serious grammatical issue.

I'll be of great service corresponding to the correction of words and phrases used in Serbian language if there's a dire need for that. It'll be my pleasure, actually. Smile

Google Chrome also says that forum is on Croatian (Hrvatski) thus always asking me to switch it to another language. Whoever did the translation made an enormous mistake!

Serbian (Latin)(Latinica)
-------------------

Previzualizovati - Not a Serbian word. Should be Pregledati or Pregledaj (To see, to view OR See it, View it)

Smetenjak - I have no idea what that word means, it's not Serbian nor Serbian Google Translator recodnises it. If I had to translate it I would categorize it as "Person who's a burden", "Someone who does damage" - Yet, it's used as an option when typing new post. Absurd.

Idi na administracioni panel - Should be Idi na administrativni panel

Prikaz teme - Should be simple Tematika (Tematika is a phrase used to categorize preview of a certain subject, or theme. It's much more cultural)

Zadnji - Should be poslednji.

Aktualizati - Should be Aktivirati

Arhive - Should be Arhiva

I'll edit this post if I find more, I'm working with my fellow members to find as much as possible wrong titles, phrases, words et cetera.

Best regards. blackeye

There is currently a team of people who are working on translating the mistakes to proper Serbian. I can't give you a timetable for when it will be completed, but it is being worked on.

Serbian language problem Empty Re: Serbian language problem

Hello, as you can see by flag, I'm Serbian too.
Don't worry about translation. My team and I are searching for all the mistakes (in style or spelling), so all grammar, spelling, words that don't have meaning or miss a letter or two will be changed or fixed. I will make the translation in the language spirit, not literally.

But all is up to Typlo to give me tools I need.

Serbian language problem Empty More problems, Board language

Post by Raziel21 November 13th 2010, 2:36 am

Okay, I've posted this post to inform about the problem still present (nearly a year and a half). I'll even place certain screenshots to simply evident where're certain problems.

Reasons for IMG :
Spoiler:
---------
At the board language selection there're few mistakes. I used plain "српски" but instead it to be on Serbian Cyrilic
Spoiler:
I've found out that it's actually on Latinic Serbian language
Spoiler:

Furthermore, I've found out a lot of connection to Croatian language. I've already said that earlier, but I guess it doesn't matter if I repeat since, basically, nobody's doing anything about this matter as far as i'm concerned.

However, I gave up from waiting that one to be fixed SO i chose another one, unmistakably called ''Српски Ћирилица''.
------

--------
We need it like this :
- Serbian (Cyrilic) ( Српски, Ћирилица) (Made out by 30 real)
[Аа, Бб, Вв, Гг, Дд, Ђђ, Ее, Жж, Зз, Ии, Јј, Кк, Лл, Љљ, Мм, Нн, Њњ, Оо, Пп, Рр, Сс, Тт, Ћћ, Уу, Фф, Хх, Цц, Чч, Џџ. Шш]
- Serbian (Latinic) (Srpski, Latinica) (Made out by 27 real, and 3 combined)
[Aa, Bb, Cc, Čč, Ćć, Dd, Dž dž, Đđ, Ee, Ff, Gg, Hh, Ii, Jj, Kk, L l, Lj lj, Mm, Nn, Nj nj, Oo, Pp, Rr, Ss, Šš, Tt, Uu, Vv, Zz, Žž]
--------
So, the options would be just plain - like this:

Српски
Srpski

-------

Here are the pictures of known problems for currently called ''Српски Ћирилица''

That's as far as the obvious things go. There's more to be corrected at FAQ section
