Over on the french support forums, they have a working one. I used it on my forums when it was phpbb2.

One real reason I don't follow french tuts; they don't work in other languages, and I can't seem to get their one working either.

You have phpBB2, so...load the above system Invision script, create the category IDs needed for the system Invision script to work, then duplicate the code in the expand/contract buttons from a forumotion Invision board.
I did something very similar on a phpBB3 board (Facebook Forum).
