Post by Gary-X on November 22nd 2010, 9:36 pm

OK, I just joined there because I noticed a Problem on My Forum, let me take you through it:

-I appointed one of My Members to become a Moderator
-He then sent me a PM
-He told me that he couldn't see any of the Moderating Tools

So Yeah, I hope I have explained it in a way that you will Understand, Please & Thank You!

it sounds to me that he has to set his forum permissions to allow moderator

Admin panel>general>forum>permissions

be sure to click on (moderation) for each forum you want him to have permissions for.

I think I have found another Problem, when I check the Permissions for Him, is says that he is a "Member" Even though I am sure I promoted him to Moderator Status as his Username Colour matches the Mod Style.

You will need to make ranks

http://help.forumotion.com/frequently-asked-questions-f5/user-ranks-t16692.htm

Then you will need to go to User & Groups // Search User // Click Profile // All the way down till you see rank // Click Drop Down // Click Rank // Save

From what he said when I was chatting with him earlier I guess basically he said "No, I can only see the first two."

What do you Mean, the Only Place I see "Permissions" is on is in the Reporting Section, I guess you mean in the "Forums & Categories" Section. But when I go there, it is basically stuff like Posting and Stuff like that, what he has problems with is the Moderating Tools when I clearly know that he is supposed to be a Mod, as I changed his status the other Day.

Ok, I am very Sorry For Double-Posting but I have found out the "Member Permissions" But when I click on it, all I get is this message:

"You can change the information related to the users. You just have to click on the username. You can also send him an email or a pm by clicking on his address."

I think you're looking at the users themselves and not the permissions.

Yes but when I do check the Permissions, it just gives me stuff to change like Posting and Viewing when I am trying to sort out Moderating.

Here's some sections of the admin panel you'd maybe want to look at:

- Users & Groups > Special Rights
- Users & Groups > Search Users > Find the moderator's username
- Users & Groups > Rank Administration

All of these have moderator permissions. Try looking through and changing permissions.

you have to have him in a group. if he is a moderator then create a group called moderator and place him in that group.

After he is in the group go to

Admin panel>general>forums

Click on the little orange gear/modify icon for one of your forums then permissions.

You will see the list of groups you have. so you have to set the group for the permissions you want to allow and be sure to check off (moderate) when moderate is checked off then he will have his mod tools for that forum. you will have to go through all the forums and set them one by one, unless you want to copy the permissions from a previous forum have already done

Be sure not to check tha off for any groups you do not want as mods
