You should be allowed to use swear words on your own forum.

No you are not.
Supposedly someone takes offense on your forum & reports the same to forumotion using the litigation tool, your forum could get into trouble.

hence, better to be safe than sorry.

Interesting. In the US we have a right to say what we please and such is protected by law. The TOS says nothing about swearing and it would be in my opinion a slippery slope indeed. First one man's swear word is another's normal speech. Secondly, what if someone objects to the word abortion, Gay or objects to a religious topic or other social topic?

Adults should be treated as adults and it is pretty simple to not visit a forum if it offends you. As simple as pushing the google search button or changing a channel on TV.

Well i think the whole question could be answered by just useing common sense.

If your haveing a conversation or discussion and just throw a word out there once in the while and not useing profanity excessively. then i do not see it being a big issue.

Verses if someone is intentionally bashing another, or useing it in a racial way.
Or sexual explicit conversations, then no that would not be tolerated.

So this is kind of a no brainier, staff and admins would have to decide what they think would be tolerable and what would be pushing it to far.

Just remember this. People report forums for everthing and anything.
So it's always in the best interest of a forums founder to run their forum as clean and respectable to all members, staff and guest, as posibil. If you feel you have members you might have to babysit, then use the word censor option or make it clear excessive profanity will not be permitted.

But sanket basically summed it up in his initial comment.. i am just trying to shed a lil more light on it and stating this is something you would just have to use a lil common sense on,and how far is too far.

So anymore question? we will not be leaving this thread open very long.
Lord only knows where this could end up... LOL

nothing in the rules that says swearing isnt aloud if it was the swear filter would already be customised to block most basic words how ever like kirk said using it against another person is against the tos, as for in the US you have freedom of speach yes you correct but also i bet if you went up to a cop and started verbaly abusing him you would soon end up locked up or fighting for your life on CNN most shocking police lol, on the side of caution id put a clear not when signing up that states the use of swear words
