How to change the color of a specific category and/or forum?
Sorry if this has been posted/answered elsewhere. Tried to search for similar posts but came up with nothing.
I 've created a forum with 5 categories and I 'd like to change the color of only one of them (and its forums). Is this possible? I mean that I need the background and font color of one of the categories (and its subforums) to be different from the rest (both on the index of the forum and on the actual category... if this makes any sense...)
Note: 4 out of 5 categories (with their forums) are private. I want the public one to have a different color.

In the category title you add this:
and the to change the background, i don't think its possible for only one, but you can try this in the forum Description :
- Code:
<font color="COLOR HERE">Category Name</font>
and the to change the background, i don't think its possible for only one, but you can try this in the forum Description :
- Code:
<div style="color:#TEXT COLOR;background-color: #COLOR HERE;">TEXT HERE</div>

Thanx for the reply. Very helpful. I was able to change the font color of the category/forum names. :-)
On the other hand, I 'd also like to change not just the font's background, but the background color of the cells (e.g. on the forum index) and maybe the background of each subforum as well (and the bckgrnd of the posts, also). Think that it's possible somehow?

unfortunately it will be "all Greek" to you, since it's in... well... Greek ;-)
it's also private, and only one category is public (the one I want to change its colors)
anyway, you can take a look of the public section at: http://smed.forumotion.net/

Well... it's not working. Actually, this only changes the font's background, not the table's. I wanted to change the table color, or the color of only one category (and its forums), but it seems that there is no way to do such a thing... Too bad :-(

Re: How to change the color of a specific category and/or forum?
You're using phpBB2, so you can modify your index_box template to add a class/id to each category. That will require knowledge of both HTML and javascript.
Or you could switch your board type to Invision, which is the only board type that can do what you want without HTML/javascript coding skills. Before you make the change, make sure to export your color theme in Themes Management, then once the board is changed to Invision, import your saved color theme to restore your current board's colors.

Thanx for the reply.
I 'll try switching to Invision, since my html/js knowledge is limited to the basics. If I export "Current Skin/Whole style", will I be able to restore all the colors/features of my board, after the switch?

Hi all, and thanx again for all your help.
Well, I switched to "invision", and imported my previous skin (restoring the colors of my previous settings), but I cannot figure out how to change the (table/cell/background) colors of a specific category (and its subforums). Can anyone help me a bit?

If you provide the URL of your forum, and the name of the category you want a different color, I'll be able to tell you what you need to add to your CSS. I tried the URL you gave above, but that's a phpBB2 board.

Re: How to change the color of a specific category and/or forum?
Thanx for the reply. The above url is the correct one. Only one category is displayed because only that one is "public". There are 4 more categories that are restricted for membrs-only access. The point is that I want that public category [Δημόσια Συζήτηση - Ανοιχτό Φόρουμ] to appear in different colors for clarity (I need members to easily distinguish between private and public forums). Since I couldn't find a way to do that automatically in Invision, I switched back to phpbb2.
