Re: navbar out of position with firefox??
basically need to know how to make them sit over the top of the picture like they did with chrome.
its not even a question of making the picture slimmer, as the picture appears to be anchored to the top left corner of where it is. so it is either work it out, or have a small square "banner" on the left so it doesnt interfere with the navbar, which sucks

Re: navbar out of position with firefox??
Chrome has a number of element positioning bugs, particularly with margins. If you want to fix the problem, load Firefox and get the navbar to look the way you want it. Then go back to Chrome. I bet it will look fine with Chrome as well.
It's interesting that Safari does not have the same positioning bugs. That means the problem is in Chrome itself and not the Webkit rendering engine...

Re: navbar out of position with firefox??
sorry, you misunderstand, in chrome it looks fine. this error is with firefox.
without the picture, this is how it sits...
this is where the nav bar belongs, and in chrome it stays there overlapping the picture.
the problem is in firefox it doesnt sit over the picture, it glitches as in the first image in the original post.
there must be a logical explanation. or if there is any way to join them all up under the picture, i'd be happy with that too, but as it is, theres one button above and the rest below.

Re: navbar out of position with firefox??
No....YOU don't understand. Chrome has known positioning bugs, particularly with margins. You have set up margins/padding/etc in a way that is causing the navbar to overflow the boundary of its parent element. The positioning bugs are allowing you to place the navbar in an incorrect position. The navbar look fine in Chrome when in fact it isn't. Firefox is displaying the navbar in it proper location.
The solution is to use a different browser (Firefox, Opera, even Safari and IE8) to get the navbar's position in the correct location. THEN go back to Chrome. And guess what? It will look right in Chrome as well!
This very bug is how I can immediately tell if a forum has been developed using Chrome, without checking how things look in other browsers...
