Creating Forum Bots

Creating Forum Bots
I created a user on my forum called "Birthday Bot". It's only purpose is to create topics wishing users happy birthday in the members lounge section of my forum. This can be annoying having to sign on it everyday to wish a few users happy birthday. It would be awesome if there was an automatic feature or a "robot" tool on our AP to have a bot, with the name of your choosing, make specific automatic post once a requirement is met, such as wish members a happy birthday.
Not only is this a great idea to use as a feature by the admin on a forum, but this might grow into something bigger, where bots can help the admin and his staff while they are busy on a business trip, vacation or whatever the reason. Depending on how intelligent the bots become in the future.
Anyone agree with this idea? please share your opinions on this

Re: Creating Forum Bots
I went to a forum once, and in the chat room I was talking to a bot for several minutes before I realized all the responses were pretty general in nature. I laughed for about an hour.

Re: Creating Forum Bots
I see some thing like that on a chat forum once, it was a bot that pm'ed you if you clicked on if you had the hots for some one. the bots name was Cupid... i would like one to post in my welcome thread for all new members
so you get my vote here

Re: Creating Forum Bots
Yeah, I would like to be able to create bots, exactly like you said, too be able to help out with the forums when your busy. Also maybe when they eventually get even smarter you can make a bot that can make relevant posts, as some guest bots do not on mine, well they are long and not what is wanted exactly on that forum. I just wish you can make bots. This is a high suggestion from me.

OH MY GOD! THAT'S HILARIOUS!
And now that all the caps are done, I completely agree with this. We have something now that enables us to send birthday messages (very useful), but I would like something that would help patrol the forum with me so I, nor my Junior Admins/Mods, have to be so much on the look out for inappropriate content or spams or floods.
Very good idea!
Re: Creating Forum Bots
Exactly! I have been thinking the same thing for a while now, and it feels great to have people back me up. But I'm sure with the continuous support, they will eventually enable bot making on our forums.
Re: Creating Forum Bots
Our support team here is a wonderful one, and always on the move with updates, so it's entirely possible that bots will be available before we know it.
To help things along, however, I suggest bumping this poll to ensure people see it and keep it active.

Re: Creating Forum Bots
I don't like bumping because all it TRULY is, is spam. On a different site, we take spam seriously, as that clearly is spam. But apparently it is allowed here, as long as it is not unnecessary, so:
Bump==>Bump==>Bump, Please respond to this thread, so the tech team sees it quicker. This would be a very good thing. I can't wait.

Re: Creating Forum Bots
Hm... This is a cool idea. Plus, chat bots can be used for preventing spam and an ALL CAPS RAGE!
Re: Creating Forum Bots
Great idea, but I see ad. bots on the horizon.
Edit: Just noticed someone both mini-modded and spammed in a time span of two minutes.

Re: Creating Forum Bots
sorry but on my forum their are members who join then don't post or leave i don't want a birthday post for them but some of the members don't post but go on chat so a bot that used the last post date of a user wouldn't always work my users are perfectly happy to wish any active member of my forum happy birthday and they make their own introductory posts

There already is an automatic birthday message sending feature.

What do you mean by "help?" Create new forums? Edit posts? Don't think that's going to happen.
Depending on how intelligent the bots become in the future.
There's a site for that.
