headers & navigation problem Empty headers & navigation problem

Post by FENSTER December 17th 2010, 5:52 pm

hi, i created my own button for the friends list so instead of having to go into your profile and hit the little tiny bit of writing for the friends list you can just hit a bit button on the menu bar by using the link for friends list in the admin i thought it would direct everyone to my friends list but it didnt and works perfect....

but i just tried to do the same for the visitor messages so people can just click a menu button to direct strait to their own visitor messages but it will not let me, i have created the button and inserted the link into a new nav link but need a member ID on the end for it to work, when entering one it just directs me and everyone to my visitor messages,

my question is....is there somehow i can enter a link into the setting to direct members to their own visitor messages section?

post if you require the link and any info will be appreciated Smile

I've had issues with this as well - and attempted to use the (username) script. Which could possibly work in some case... though I have yet to mess around with it enough.

Right now, I only know of one way you could do this:

Example of Visitor Messages URL:
http://mln-ligersociety.1forum.biz/u1wall-

Each user has a number designation which stands for when they joined. In other words, they 100th registered member would be User 100. In the URL, that Visitor Messages Profile would be directed to User #9. To change which user it directs to on your forum, just use the following code:

Code:
http://(yourforumaddress)/u(User#)wall-

If you need to find a member's number, just go to your member list and arrange it by Registration Date, then count down by yourself (since you founded it, you're #1).

I will continue to look into various codings for alternative options.
