Solved Terms of Service issue!

Post by hennessycool January 5th 2011, 9:05 pm

I'm sorry if it doesn't belong here but I was unsure where to put it.

Can I write my own Terms of Service for my forum?
I bought my domain already so I was wondering if I still need to go by Forumotion's or if I could create my own.
I have a Roleplay forum and I want to allow my members to be able to write without really censoring themselves.

I'd have them put 18+ in their post title and in the first post as a warning.
Would that be acceptable?

well you can not change forumotions tos. everyone still has to obey them.
But you can add your own additional rules or terms, just be sure they do not go against forumsotions.

As far as the 18 and sure. you can have 18 and up. but all content would have to still fall under forumotions TOS,So lets say someone had a forum and it was only for adults, that would not mean adult content would be allowed.

But yeah you can always add your own additional rules and terms.

Ok then.
I've read the ToS of Forumotion.

"Forums that does welcome or promote warez, piracy, hacking, cracking, spamming, attacks against networks or servers, pornography, racial hatred, crimes against humanity, inappropriate activities on the servers, or any other actions which violate any applicable laws, aren't allowed. Any forum which contains texts, links, pictures, animations, videos or any other content recognized as illegal will be deleted without notice or warning. Forumotion.com reserves the right to delete any accounts or forums considered like not conform to the rules quoted here or specified in Forumotion.com or in the international website rules according to the international internet law. Any illegal content or act can or would be reported to the concerned services and prosecuted."

If two people in my forum were to decide to write a story that had "adult themes and content".
It's not considered pornography and is not illegal.

If they notified that it's for older viewers would that be allowed?

If someone reports it and doesn't like the content of your forum you can end up having the forum get a warning or even a ban. It would be best if you don't allow it.
