Help with Meebo Please

Post by Daywalker76 on January 8th 2011, 6:53 pm

Hi and thanks for reading and offering help.

I am new to html coding and where to put things. I have searched this forum for Meebo problems and see that there are fixes, yet, the post gets closed before I can ask. So here I go, sorry for repeats..

I have signed up and received my code for Meebo to add onto my site. I have created a widget and placed the code into the widget. Gave the widget a name but told it no to use a table type.

I have seen another code simular to mine and that person was told to go to a hosting site and create a js code and link it because of the & being filtered. I do not understand how to do that either. I have went to a hosting site but see nothing.

I do not know how to place the code here without just pasting it. It seems that you may have to do a picture of the code to place it?

here is the complete script that was given to me by Meebo... Sorry if I post this wrong...

<script type="text/javascript">
window.Meebo||function(c){function p(){return["<",i,' onload="var d=',g,";d.getElementsByTagName('head')[0].",
j,"(d.",h,"('script')).",k,"='http://cim.meebo.com/cim?iv=",a.v,"&",q,"=",c[q],c[l]?
"&"+l+"="+c[l]:"",c[e]?"&"+e+"="+c[e]:"","'"></",i,">"].join("")}var f=window,
a=f.Meebo=f.Meebo||function(){(a._=a._||[]).push(arguments)},d=document,i="body",
m=d[i],r;if(!m){r=arguments.callee;return setTimeout(function(){r(c)},100)}a.$=
{0:+new Date};a.T=function(u){a.$[u]=new Date-a.$[0]};a.v=4;var j="appendChild",
h="createElement",k="src",l="lang",q="network",e="domain",n=d[h]("div"),v=n[j](d[h]("m")),
b=d[h]("iframe"),g="document",o,s=function(){a.T("load");a("load")};f.addEventListener?
f.addEventListener("load",s,false):f.attachEvent("onload",s);n.style.display="none";
m.insertBefore(n,m.firstChild).id="meebo";b.frameBorder="0";b.id="meebo-iframe";
b.allowTransparency="true";v[j](b);try{b.contentWindow[g].open()}catch(w){c[e]=
d[e];o="javascript:var d="+g+".open();d.domain='"+d.domain+"';";b[k]=o+"void(0);"}try{var t=
b.contentWindow[g];t.write(p());t.close()}catch(x){b[k]=o+'d.write("'+p().replace(/"/g,
'\"')+'");d.close();'}a.T(1)}({network:"atg_ga59ti"});
Meebo("makeEverythingSharable");
</script>
<script type="text/javascript">
Meebo("domReady");
</script>

Any and all will help please.....
Thanks

So does this mean I can not use Meebo on my forum??

I have seen others use the widget method. However, their code is much different than mine. Something about forumotion filters the & sign or something like that you have to use a web host to create js file. None of that I understand.

Would you by any chance know anything of this?

Thanks so much for your time and effort in helping me..

in the admin panel >module>forum widget management...

Create new Widget

Widget name .......
use a table type = No

Then put the code into the html box making sure there is a green + with html over it.

Then save and place the widget into the forum. The widget box will not show, but the meebo bar will show at footer...

Problem is, the code I received will not work until changed to a js file and then linked into the html code. I will try to find the thread on this part and then edit this and place it in. That might help.

My problem, I am not where good at coding and what I have typed is still over my head lol..

Sorry the $ is filtered. Here is the link to the other in which helped that person. I myself still do not understand what they did as it was not explained and the thread was locked before I could ask them to explain.

Thanks again...

ok

in wordpad or other put this code

Code:
window.Meebo||function(c){function p(){return["<",i,' onload="var d=',g,";d.getElementsByTagName('head')[0].",
j,"(d.",h,"('script')).",k,"='http://cim.meebo.com/cim?iv=",a.v,"&",q,"=",c[q],c[l]?
"&"+l+"="+c[l]:"",c[e]?"&"+e+"="+c[e]:"","'"></",i,">"].join("")}var f=window,
a=f.Meebo=f.Meebo||function(){(a._=a._||[]).push(arguments)},d=document,i="body",
m=d[i],r;if(!m){r=arguments.callee;return setTimeout(function(){r(c)},100)}a.$=
{0:+new Date};a.T=function(u){a.$[u]=new Date-a.$[0]};a.v=4;var j="appendChild",
h="createElement",k="src",l="lang",q="network",e="domain",n=d[h]("div"),v=n[j](d[h]("m")),
b=d[h]("iframe"),g="document",o,s=function(){a.T("load");a("load")};f.addEventListener?
f.addEventListener("load",s,false):f.attachEvent("onload",s);n.style.display="none";
m.insertBefore(n,m.firstChild).id="meebo";b.frameBorder="0";b.id="meebo-iframe";
b.allowTransparency="true";v[j](b);try{b.contentWindow[g].open()}catch(w){c[e]=
d[e];o="javascript:var d="+g+".open();d.domain='"+d.domain+"';";b[k]=o+"void(0);"}try{var t=
b.contentWindow[g];t.write(p());t.close()}catch(x){b[k]=o+'d.write("'+p().replace(/"/g,

Ok...

Now I took that file and placed it in notepad and saved it under all files as Meebo.js and hit saved.

I see the file but when I go to open it, I get a syntec error. I also tried to save it in wordpad. I named it as Meebo.js as well but nothing has changed..

I do appreciate your help and hope that I am not wasting your time..
