Solved Forum Deletion

Post by HamsterFlaffy January 8th 2011, 2:31 am

Hi I have a problem on my forum. When I finish validation of the deletion of my forums, it does not delete it completely. Instead, it just deletes all topics, messages, and even my admin account. The website also changes to ******editboard.com.

What is happening?

When I try to restore it to full backup to delete it again, it works. But the same thing happens. So when I try to restore it *again*, it gives me an error:

An error was encountered during the backup. Please verify the address.

I dont really understand what is happening but shouldnt "Forum Deletion" mean absolute deletion of the entire forum? Why does it still linger?

Leftovers from my previous forum still exists.

EDIT: I managed to restore my forum again. But Im closing it until an admin here can help me resolve this issue and delete everything completely.

If you're redirected to a link like ****.editboard.com(or a random link related to forumotion), it means that the forum is already deleted. I would suggest you to just repeat the process to completely delete your forum.

How do I delete the editboard as well? I want no trace of my forum to linger.

Like...absolutely zero.

I don't think that's possible :/ No one would really be able to log in there since all the data on the previous forum is deleted and it is redirected to a random board.

That isn't much of a problem. People have the option to create a new forum even if its the same topic or forum. You didn't wish to continue it so someone else is.

If you don't have access to that editboard then you can't.

Shouldnt I have access to it, then? How come I cant access it?

Is the editboard same as mine or is it controlled separately by 2 different founders?

Are you sure it's your forum? After you delete a forum. the link may redirect to a forum with the same name, but a different end section; like: .forumotion.com.

If not, can i have a link to your editboard forum so i can see what's going on?

Hi,

Editboard is an old name for forumotion (we changed names a fair while back), and sometimes, throughout the system, there might some misses where they didn't update the name Sad .

Do you wish the forum to be deleted now, or do you mind waiting a little bit?
If you were to wait 6 months, and not log in (after receiving the nice of inactivity) your forum will be deleted, and people will be redirected to the forumotion.com home page.
It's not possible to remove yourself from the utilities, that you restore your forum on to my knowledge.

I've never seen such a issue before, give it 48 hrs without going near the forum (including the tools) and see if it's deleted then please

Alright, because there are people still logging in, the deletion cannot complete it's self TT

If you can, ask them to stop logging in, and inform them the forum is dto be deleted. When they do, it should be gone within 24 hrs.
But if you'd rather, you can give someone else your admin password, and they can take over the forum. - Just a thought.
