Possible virus/suspected scam?
I am an admin of a Forum called http://superhero-rpg.forum-motion.com/forum and I get this message from some jecent member calling themselves "Forumotion.com" Then next thing I get is a PM claiming that this forum has a virus and what not. It seems suspicious. It requests me to delete almost everything and get an expensive virus scan on it... Here is a copy of said PM
"Dear Tobias Kado,
It has come to forumMotion's attention that several link's on your website have become affected. This will affect the overall way your website functions and can lead to viruses being spread to user's on this website. We advise you take action soon before your site crashes. This is simply a suggestion but it's highly recommended you act upon it.
Sincerely,
Jen Lorsa from Forum Motion"
My question is Is this Valid? why the PM, couldn't they email me or something? I did not get said Email.

Re: Possible virus/suspected scam?
No! This is not valid. Forumotion never sends out emails to their members except on super rare occasions. This is a red flag right here "forumMotion's". Thats not how they spell it. If you were to get an email from Forumotion, it would be from Typlo.

Re: Possible virus/suspected scam?
Thank you Joph25, I couldn't find the topic about this.
But no, please do not reply to this email. It is not legit and it could end up being more bad then good.

Re: Possible virus/suspected scam?
I'm sure the user has been reported and could be banned on good grounds.

I am not sure if this is related but one of my users says that when he opened the site he got an advert which found that he had won millions of pounds if only he would fill in his bank details . He is concerned that the site might be corrupted.

Re: Possible virus/suspected scam?
Advice him not to fill in the info and leave it, some ads contains virus and some are possible scams.
