How Long does it take before a suggestion is fulfilled

Post by **N@ME?!?LE$$** on January 19th 2011, 1:30 am

I was looking at the suggestions threads, and there alot good ideas, with alot of yes, votes, but yet nothing happens, Mods all say wait it out or something, but no matter how long you wait, nothing is done. don't get me wrong, this site is good at fufilling request and answer questions, but yet it takes sooooo long, i really think the site needs some staff members. (and i thought there was alot, but some are inactive, like the leader, now how can the leader of a site be inactive for so long.)

Stuff takes a while to integrate on the forum. Some suggestions will probably be implemented soon though. Wink

It's hard to get things done, it really is. More staff won't really help.

I agree with Justin, it's hard to script alot of things.
I mean seriously, there are priority updates such as security upgrades, which force the delay of the release of an update. (And that's understandable)
We haven't had an update for quite a while, and we are due for some in the coming months, as Justin is hinting at Wink

To be honest, if you see duck over the French SF, you'll be able to immediately tell that their suggestions obviously come first, but don't fret, there have been some English suggestions been appraised.
It's just, our suggestions take longer to code because, frankly, their more complex. thumright

The devs/techs can only work so hard, and over the previous 12 months, I've never seen this lot of techs work so hard. If I wore a hat, I'd take it off to them Wink

To answer your exact question:
Suggestion for the support forum require 40+ positive votes, and the majority of staff.
Suggestions for our forums, well, no-one knows that, it's just a matter of time, the techs have to code it, and because Typlo is a lesion, and NOT a techie, he can't tell us what's being made (and if he did know, what's the point if we knew what it was, early xmas in March? No thanks!). I'd rather a surprise!

Regards,
Darren.

The part that I bolded troubled me. Just because there's, for example, 5 million votes that agree and 4 that disagree, doesn't automatically mean its going to be implemented.

(I also agree with Justin)

Also, the staff as a whole (or the important staff) decide whether or not it should be good for Forumotion (I would assume so)

/back with my first sentence/ People say to wait, because first they have to agree on it (or the owner does), then it has to be added to all of the forum versions.
Im impatient to see whether or not some of the suggestions will be implemented.

Darren also provided some real stuff.

Confused

Hi,

I agree it does take alot of time for a suggestion to get implemented but you have to think about it on a bigger scale. There are 12 different support forums where suggestions are started. The team have to find the best suggestions from all 12 support forums. Once they have finalised what suggestions they are going to implement they will have to plan how it will work and how they will roll it across to thousands of forums and develop the idea. Then you think that they have to translate it to 12+ different languages and debug it and make sure it doesn't create any security threats.

If think about it in that way for a small team of techs and a limited amount of money they work there socks off to provide the service that they do and to offer it for free.

For those reasons I think it wouldn't be fair to criticize the work that they do and hence no need for this topic.
