Probably sound stupid but what is a forum favicon.

It's the little picture icon that displays in your browsers address bar to the left of the address itself. When you visit a website, look beside the address (url) on the left and you will often see a tiny image that is used to 'define' a website or forum. The normal size is about 20 x 20 pixels.

Forgot to mention they will also appear in browser tabs and that not all browsers support favicons, or will show them if they are not in the proper image format and size.
