Forumotion Forum Consultancy

Post by Russel on February 7th 2011, 2:39 pm

How about extending the review system a little bit into something called, say, Forumotion Forum Consultancy?

The sort of thing I'm thinking of would, most definitely, have some sort of requirements for entry like we have for the reviews. That would mean that the admin in question has already put in quite some time in developing the basics and won't expect someone to do the groundwork for them.

I'd also suggest making the whole thing be done in public so that it becomes some sort of case study that can stay on Forumotion(support forum) and be used as reference for the future. While the main dialogue could be between consultant and consultee, maybe other support forum members could stick their oar in as well and offer pertinent feedback?

There'd, of course, need to be some sort of gatekeeping system so that the forums accepted for the consultancies are appropriate. And I'm not sure how the consultants might be appointed - volunteers, maybe, or some sort of staff rotation like the reviews? But I think interest in / knowledge of the niche is important, as that's what really got me when I was reviewing - trawling through a forum whose genre I had no interest in whatsoever (that, or seeing a forum I knew wouldn't listen and then probably fail, or that just wanted the review as an ego rub).

Anyway, just my ideas. Might be the sort of thing I'd be interested in, you never know, so long as I have the time (and, that's another thing that I couldn't do with the reviews - guarantee some sort of frequency. Maybe some sort of consultancy with no such minimum requirements, just a public discussion, might be the right sort of thing for people like me...)

They just like what reviewers do. But topics will be extended in discussing about their forums.

Whats the need for such a thing? It will soon become a thread for promoting & bumping up the thread.

I vote No for this.

I don't see the point of this suggestion, the review section already provides all that needs to be discussed/changed on the forum, and yeah, it will just be a spam/advertising fest soon enough when it gets flooded/got too many comments and these can be done on promotion forums.

Voted No, Sorry.

I have voted no because this is unnecessary. Apologies, but a forum review should suffice and further and extended discussion is not really needed. Smile

There's already a publicity zone and a review zone. For that matter, nothing stops members from posting (parts of) a review to show positive aspects of the said forum and interest potential members. If a member wants to discuss his review, can't he already simply ask after a reviewer passes?

For me, this suggestion is simply re-inventing the wheel but calling it a treadmill
