IE Security warning
Guys,
We have set up a forum via this site. However, a rival forum has reported ours via the smartscreen filter on Internet Explorer to microsoft. All traffic via IE is now being flagged and warning people that we are a security breach.
Other security software such as AVG and Norton report us as okay but this is really effecting people coming to our site.
we have reported back to Microsoft through the options displayed on the warning but this has been going on for nearly a week now.
It is saying our site has malware software on it - can anyone help?

Hi,
Forumotion doesn't have any virus on most of the forums, have you tried adding scripts/codes to your forum lately?

Re: IE Security warning
as far as I know, we havent done any of that - there are 4 of us who run it and I am fairly sure, none of us have.

Re: IE Security warning
If other anti-virus reports that the forum is free from viruses, I'm aware that that's a false reading, though, the ads on your forums may be the ones causing this threats to be reported to your anti-virus. There has been alot of reported threads about this from the past, use the search and type in 'virus', most on the complaints are said to be false reading.

we have paid for the ads to be removed so it can't be that.
Is it possible that this malicious user (who claimed to work in IT) could have hacked the forum and planted a virus?

The only software that it happens with is through internet explorer.
Kasperski has apparently flagged it too but this was only one person who reported it so I cannot confirm this.

Thanks for running McAfee for us - thats good to know.
Microsoft are taking ages to clear the warning off IE - we provided them with details immediately (last Tuesday I think).
We have set up the site as BBC have decided to close their forum which has over 15000 members in May. A few other rival sites have set up and we think that its one of them that has reported us.
Hope you get your problem sorted soon.
