Edit Confirmation Warning Page
As Admins and Moderators, its too easy to accidentally hit the edit button instead of the quote button when replying to posts. This can result in wiping peoples posts, and therefore causing unnessesary friction within your community. Myself and my admin have both done this once each so far in our first week and we really dont want this to happen again. I took away my moderators edit abilities but the button still remains for myself.
If it's not possible to remove the Edit button for admins then can we PLEASE have an extra page pop up after you hit Send that says:
"Are you SURE you want to EDIT this members post." YES ::: NO :::
Lets have a vote.

Are you talking about:
display>> Pics management>>> advanced >>> hide (checkbox next to edit button)
??
That means no-one can ever edit their own posts. I dont want that.

So when you hit the edit button, how does it delete itself immediately?

Re: Edit Confirmation Warning Page
I have voted no. It seems unnecessary and I don't see how you could accidently edit someone's post and get rid of everything. Surely the image with the word "Edit" in it seems pretty obvious... and also, you can see that it's the member's message and not your own message.

I didnt say it deletes itself immediately.
I accidentally hit the edit button instead of quote. So I think its my reply. I delete all of the nested quotes I dont need and leave their reply to me. Reply to it, hit send...and VOILA. I've just deleted their post and replaced it with my reply.
My mod has done this too.
I just want an extra screen that gives awarning before editing someones post so this doesny happen. Otherwise I dont want to give edit privaladges to my mods in case this happens again.

Wow...sorry for not being perfect. Is it so much trouble to put an extra warning message in?
The quote and edit buttons are RIGHT next to eachother. Are me and my mod the only people to ever accidentally wipe someones post like this??

I didn't say that. Please don't put words into my mouth.
However, it does seem very unlikely that you could erase the whole of a member's post by clicking the edit button by mistake. Regarding your idea, would you make this optional? Of course, for every time I edited a post, I wouldn't want to be reminded that I'm editing someone else's post.

May I remind you that double/triple posting isn't tolerated unless separated by 24 hours (Use the edit button)Strangelove wrote:Base wrote:I have voted no. I'm gonna vote no. First of all, Admins and Mods could have the power to edit. There is simpily no way you can get rid of it. I'm sorry it's just my opinion.
