Attatching files to posts

Just wondering if this is possible and if so how does one go about it. There is a forum that i have been on before that allows you to upload files to the post (its a coding forum, so aswell as having a code snippets box, you can also attach assets - like a sound file or a few pictures in a zip file) so that you can use the code that has been given out without having to create your own assets.
I would like to be able to do this rather than mess about with setting up an ftp for people to grab assets that they need from. Is it do-able?

Thank you so much. I searched the forums here and looked all around the configuration part of my own forum but didnt see the attatchments tab staring me in the face just a few options below it, i thought it would be in config.
