Global Announcements Code

Post by Rogo on 2/3/2011, 06:58

I am using the following code for my global announcements.

Code:
<div class="forumbg announcement"><div class="inner">
<span class="corners-top"><span></span></span>
<ul class="topiclist topics">
<li class="header">
<dl class="icon">
<font size="3"><font color="#FFFFFF"><b><center>Global Announcements!</center></b></font></font>
</dl>
</li>
</ul>
<ul class="topiclist topics">
<li class="row row2" style="margin-top: ;">
<left><img src="http://hitskin.com/themes/14/74/45/i_folder_announce_new.png"> <b><font size="3"><a href="http://ccmb.forum-motion.com/f74-quote-week3" target="" >Welcome to Quote Week! </a></b></font>
</left>
<br>
<left><img src="http://hitskin.com/themes/14/74/45/i_folder_announce_new.png"> <b><font size="3"><a href="http://ccmb.forum-motion.com/t1252-the-aio-chracter-competition-20#21414" target="" >The AIO Character Competition 2.0</a></b></font>
</left>
</dl>
</li>
</ul>
<span class="corners-bottom"><span></span></span>
</div>

It generates this:

How do I change it to look like this with instructions on what to change when I am putting up a new one?

It wouldn't surprise me that it is not something that can be done but I am hoping that is not the case because this way is cool.

I get that much. But is there a way I can make the announcements box code above which generates the green announcement box generate the purple one?

In short, what would I have to change in the code below to get it to look like this when using the announcements feature?

Current code and what it generates:
Code:
<div class="forumbg announcement"><div class="inner">
<span class="corners-top"><span></span></span>
<ul class="topiclist topics">
<li class="header">
<dl class="icon">
<font size="3"><font color="#FFFFFF"><b><center>Global Announcements!</center></b></font></font>
</dl>
</li>
</ul>
<ul class="topiclist topics">
<li class="row row2" style="margin-top: ;">
<left><img src="http://hitskin.com/themes/14/74/45/i_folder_announce_new.png"> <b><font size="3"><a href="http://ccmb.forum-motion.com/f74-quote-week3" target="" >Welcome to Quote Week! </a></b></font>
</left>
<br>
<left><img src="http://hitskin.com/themes/14/74/45/i_folder_announce_new.png"> <b><font size="3"><a href="http://ccmb.forum-motion.com/t1252-the-aio-chracter-competition-20#21414" target="" >The AIO Character Competition 2.0</a></b></font>
</left>
</dl>
</li>
</ul>
<span class="corners-bottom"><span></span></span>
</div>

Sorry, I'm not completely following,
Do you want to integrate your old template added GA into a topic, or as the topic?

I want to be able to display current global annoucements on the index like it is on this site. With the global announcement box.

http://replay.waybackmachine.org/20090322060529/http://www.thetoo.com/

Can it be done using our current announcement feature that is under general in the ACP?

ooh, I think I'm following now.

You can do it via the announces, yes.
General > Announcements > Activate & add what you wish.

If you do it via the homepage message in the Display, it's only in the index page, which won't be global.

How do I get it to display with like last post and author? I am not sure what code I would need for it to look good like in that purple example I gave.

I think it's possible with template editions, as I believe there's codes provided for the both of these values.

I think your on PunBB, correct?

PHPB3. It is the most clean look in my opinion.

Hmm, that does make it harder lol.

I had the feeling you were on PHPBB3, but for the global announcement, I don't understand how u previously did it without templates?

aah, you want it like the board announcements on the WBM, got ya completely.

Exact answer, it's impossible here on FM to have it like that without templates to my knowledge.
Workaround: Make a scrolling announcement, and deactivate the scroll.
