Set Default Newsletter and Email to "Yes"

Post by ToTheFuture on March 4th 2011, 5:39 pm

I was talking to Made via PM, and we both agreed on something-- it's a total pain to tell all our members to go into their profile, and change their settings to allow Newsletters and Emails. Thus, when we send out Newsletters, nobody receives them! Also, when sending out an email via the Contact button, it just gets sent to me instead of the member.

This vote is to vote to set the default to "Yes" instead of "No" for these options, and attach an "unsubscribe" link to the bottom of each email/Newsletter. That way, members would receive these things (especially if they didn't know how to turn it on, or that they even could), administrators would be happy, and it could be removed by the individual member if they decided they didn't want it!

Even if you don't care, please vote yes, it may come in handy one day. Very Happy Thank you for reading/voting! Mr. Green

Oh, that's weird. Razz It isn't for me, and there is literally 2 people who've actually manually set it to Yes. :/ It's a royal pain.

@bathala: Thank you. Very Happy Hopefully it gets looked at some time.

What we mean is if there could be a function that automatically set all newsletters to YES for really important announcements even after the users set theirs to NO. Because there are members who don't know that we actually send out newsletters in the first place and they have forgotten that they've set theirs to NO upon registration. I have thousands of members in my forum and I can't just manually each account to YES. :/ That would take so much of my time.

Wait, how would YOU do it manually? Confused

EDIT:
I don't want to double post, so yeah... I created a temporary test account to see if it was working, and apparently it is. Weird... it didn't set it to Yes automatically at the time that I originally wrote this topic. Razz
I guess this can be locked now...
