Groups can do whatever mods can do?
So, if I make a new group, they have the power to do what the moderators can do. They can ban people!
As soon as I disallow moderators from banning, no one can ban. So, for some reason the admin panel think my groups are moderators.
I doubled check to see if I gave them Moderator Powers, and I haven't!
Please, help me fix this issue. I have disallowed my moderators to ban until this gets fixed, as other groups can ban too. So, please fix this A.s...a..p! Please help guys.

Users & groups>Group administration
Modify the group in question.
Permissions tab.
See if everything is unchecked for that group in the IS Moderator checkbox.

Re: Groups can do whatever mods can do?
I did that mate. No Moderator Checkbox was checked.
Its odd. I have 7 extra groups (not including mod and admin group), but 6 have mod powers and 1 doesnt.
Please fix this mate! It looks like groups are loooked as mods.
Keep in mind, I changed the moderators to global moderators a while back, so that could be the issue.......thats what I heard at least....so how to fix?

Re: Groups can do whatever mods can do?
the only way would be to have the groups permissions set for eatch forum.
do you have a couple screen shots of what your permissions are looking like for a few groups.
also make sure you do not have members in both mod groups and other groups.
I mean there is no way for mebers to have permissions to moderate unless the permissions are set.

Re: Groups can do whatever mods can do?
EDIT: So, I played around with this. If I add a member to a group, then disable group color, then submit. Then reenable it, then sumbit then that group doesnt have mod permissions.
However, when I add a new member to the group i have to redo that color process, otherwise they have mod powers.
Now explain that? that makes no sense! glitch?

Re: Groups can do whatever mods can do?
i would not be able to know if it was a glitch or not until i seen various screen shots or had access to the admin panel.
You can pm a global moderator and ask/request if they can go in with a temp admin account you create for them to take a look.
I think it has something more to do with how you are setting the groups up.
But may be wrong.
other then that i would need all of the screen shots you can provide.

As long as I remove colour of a user group, the user has no moderator powers.
Its to do with the color.

Please check the fields that you are worried about. I have a feeling you click a box that allows everyone to edit.

Their is two boxes.

Only the moderators box is checked.

Re: Groups can do whatever mods can do?
Hi,
A "Moderator" is determined by the permissions set by an Administrator.
There are 2 sets of Permissions; Simple & Advanced. It seems like that you once set it to Advanced, then changed it to simple again.
Personally, I dislike the simple mode, and use nothing but the advanced mode as I know what all my permissions are at a glance.
Please head back to the groups permission, and at the bottom of the permissions box, hit the button "advanced Mode"
Disallow all groups to edit or modify any values, and save.
As this can be a tedious process if more than 1 group has to be changed, we can force the DB to refresh it's services.
(So it leaves only admin)
Just resync the forum once the process is complete at: Admin panel > General > Forum/config > Misc options Re-synch forum = Tick box & Save.
Now, once you can confirm no members can edit posts (So only admins can) re-edit the group values, and change it to back to what you want

Re: Groups can do whatever mods can do?
I was using the advanced feature mate.
When I make a group without a colour they have no mod powers. And then when I readd colour they still have no mod powers.
However, if I add a new member that new member has mod powers until I change color, then readd it back.

yeah this is a odd one.
like i said i need to see it,
or you can PM luky explain everything to him and ask if he can request a tech to look at.
But like i said in your pm, he may say we have to determine that it is indeed a tech issue before we/he can request a tech.
To make things easy you should take my advice and Pm mrmario or sanket and ask if you can set them up with a temp pas/temp admin account for them to go in and looks at.
I mean we do not like doing this but occasionally it seems the only way to determine what the problem may be.
Unless you can start providing screen shots of how things are with all your settings.
or try fist taking away all the profile field privileges, and see what that dose..
Actually i have to see how many groups you have and how many members in groups.
But the whole thing is sounding a lil whacky to me, do you have any kind of new scripts or codes you have added to your forum anywhere latley?

Re: Groups can do whatever mods can do?
Thanks for your help Kirk.
I will PM Luky as mentioned, and see what he can do.
I would provide screenshots, but their would be well over 50 screen shots for every setting.
Thanks mate.

If nothing hasn't been fixed, then yes its still happening.
I still have to disable color, and then enable color in order for everything to work fine.
