Email notification options

Post by phil.mcduff on March 11th 2011, 3:06 pm

My forum is set up as a private discussion group for an event we're organising. I need people to be notified when something new happens, including topics being started which they may not be watching, but I don't want to spam them with needless garbage.

Is there any way of setting up a "something new has happened" email notification, such that people get an email telling them to check the board if someone posts a new topic or a reply in any thread, but not several emails saying "check this thread" and "check this thread" etc.

Is there any way of doing that in the board software, or am I going to have to try and do something hacktackular with RSS?

"Notify me when a reply is posted"

You have that option when you answer in a topic... (not quick reply, I mean in the normal mode)

Hope this had helped you Very Happy

Um... not really. Newsletters aren't automatic - I don't want to have to send an email manually to everyone to let them know something's been posted.

I guess this means it probably can't be done. Ho hum.

they have to follow the topic, there is an option for them to choose, in their profile preferences and you can also set this your self for each member in your admin panel>user find user name then click on it.. you can set it there as a admin.

So the answer is yes you can, you just either have to tell them to set it, or you can do it your self in the admin panel. Smile

I have a similar question: is it possible for a member to receive notification emails when something happens in the forum (even if the member is not following the topic)?
