Solved Image advice

Post by Maty March 21st 2011, 8:00 pm

I'm not sure this question belongs here or if I can ask it in this forum at all... But I'll just go ahead.

What is a website that you can upload pictures to, BUT does not delete them after a time?

Preferably a website that you can upload your pictures quickly, like TinyPic. I used to use TinyPic but. I was looking through the gallery and saw someone's full forum kit deleted, and all of the pictures were uploaded into TinyPic... Then I tried Photobucket, and after some time they get deleted too. The only other one I know is imageshack, but not sure about that one.

Can anyone help me? Please and thanks.

Hello Maty,

There are many file hosting websites out there. Some that I would recommend to you are:

http://www.filedropper.com/
http://www.fileden.com/
https://servimg.com/

You can also Google some free file hosting sites. ImageShack tends to be rather slow and I would not recommend it. Smile

That's the one I was looking for! The servimg one, the one that forumotion uses. But how do I register, I don't see it anywhere.

Hmm... try using your email address for your forum and your password for your forum to log in. I think that ServImg is affiliated with ForuMotion. Smile

It didn't work. Could it be that I don't have the original e-mail of the founder? After like a year of the original founder being inactive, we decided to take the ownership of the forums. So now I have the e-mail of the owner account of the website, but it's not the same as the founder's e-mail.

That is probably the reason. You will need to obtain the founding email address and its password. Smile

How can I do that? I don't remember the e-mail and I am pretty sure forumotion never gives out any password of any account. When they gave me the founder's account, they reset the password to something else and sent that to me.

What do you mean by the fact that you the email of the owner account? Is it the email address of the previous owner i.e. the founder who created it or your own email?

The e-mail of the founder account was changed, and I don't remember the old one, the original one.

How do I use the "credentials"?

I made a new forum and used it, but the neat thing of servimg, is that it uploads all of your picture of the website into the system automatically... And if I use a different forum, it won't be very effective.

you dont have to upload anything you dont want to?
Use any image host you want.. but if you are adding images your going to have to upload them somewhere.

This is silly, i am not sure if servimg has an option to upload more then one image at a time, if you want something that will do many images at once then go with something like,

http://imageshack.us/
http://imageban.net/
http://www.imagebam.com/
http://www.imagevenue.com/

and zillions of others you can find on google

or you can build your own server and upload to that then you'll never have to worry about losing images and upload all you want, of course you would to keep your server up..lol
I am actually looking into building one my self,, but for i what i have in mind it's not in my budget at all.. ROTFL... geek

Hah fancy! It would be awesome. Although I don't see any profits or benefits for having one... How do all of those make money, just ads?

Anyway on topic, if you look at the first post, I am looking for a image hosting website that does NOT delete them after a while... Twice this has happened to me, and I loose every image. I gotta remake them or find them again (I know I should saved to my documents... but too much work...). Does imageshack deletes the image after a while? Or any of those websites you mentioned?

Thanks a lot for helping me though.

well after a while they will all go down, but usually will never lose all images at once.

Tinypic! no dont ever use that garbage host, they deleted over 2 years of every image i ever uploaded to that host because, they said one stinking image was in violation and was for commercial purposes.

dont even get me started with that host, they will diffidently screw you over for sure.

Imgeshack tent to stick long, i still have images up form over three years ago.. but i suggest if you are using bbcode or the html and you have them sized up for post or what ever? to take the hotlink out that leads back to their site... for some reason they just seem to stick much longer.. i dont know if thats a fact or not? but for me it just seemed to worked.. coincidence i guess.

Imagevenue images can last for a long time to, the problem with imagevenue though you can not use any direct links for like website purposes, they are just good for thumb nails.

Now servimg would be your best bet for images to stick, because it's forumotions image host, so even if it dose go down forumotion will have it backed up, because so many forumotion members use servimg for all their images for their forums appearances etc...

But you will lose images some time or other regardless.. and it's not so bad if it's just or two here and there, but when host like tinypic, start deleting all images AT ONCE, then thats no good. them bastards effected hundreds of pages and images on others websites i helped with, all gone in one shot..
