Mass email

Post by domos123 on 21/3/2011, 22:42

I was wondering whether it is possible to email all users registered to a forum regardless of whether they have newsletters turned on or off

The only other way if you don't want to use newsletter is put them in all a group. Easy way to do this is http://help.forumotion.com/t57913-auto-subscribe-to-groups

But they will only be able to get a message via PM.

Would I be able to change preferences for all users to allow newsletters?

Is there any way at all to do a mass mailing then?
How would forumotion look upon a crawler bot which accessed the admin back-end and collated email addresses?

The news letter is your only option.

Ughh... looks like I have a long weekend ahead of manually turning on the newsletter for 4000 users... If I could make one, would I be allowed to use a macro for this?

@Rideem3:
Yeah, but will that go to members who have the preferences set to disallow newsletters?

Unfortunately, a surprising portion of the members, especially those who were the most contributing members until recently, have them disabled :P

Ah hah! Just found an alternate way. Using inactive users to inform users with less than (hold down 9 for a while) messages XD
UPDATE: I'm gonna have to go with another criteria, since it only allows a 3 digit number in that field...
UPDATE AGAIN: I found out how to do it! just do inform inactive users who haven't visited since -1 days
