I cannot get into ACP now...

Post by SSBelmont on March 24th 2011, 3:41 am

I need to setup a redirect because we are moving our site to a new server so we can have more customizations. We need to redirect all users to our new site so I found a post that says you can use the following in the site description:

put this in the site description of the old board:
<meta http-equiv="Refresh" content="0";url="the new URL" />

When I do this, it simple goes into a loop and I cannot login.

Can someone reset this and tell me how we can redirect to an external site?

Our Forumotion site is www.swifttactics.forumotion.com.

Thanks!
Belmont

Hello,

Do you mean moving your forum to another host? We don't allow the transfer of database so I don't think that's possible, or do you mean redirecting your forum to another site/forum?

Redirecting to a new site/host...

Post by SSBelmont on March 24th 2011, 3:54 am

The new site is already setup, it's www.swifttacticsgaming.com. Forumotion simply does not allow the customizations that we need so we had not choice but to move it.

I don't need to migrate a database or anything like that. I first need to fix the problem I created with the ACP by simply setting the site descriptiong to blanks. Right now, when I hit our URL, it goes into a loop appending the new URL to the current www.swifttactics.forumotion.com URL.

The result of me adding the following to the site description is as follows:

1. Adding the following to site description:
<meta http-equiv="Refresh" content="0";url="www.swifttacticsgaming.com" />
2. Now when I navigate to www.swifttactics.forumotion.com, this appears the following to the URL:
www.swifttactics.forumotion.com/www.swifttacticsgaming.com
3. Now I am stuck in a loop and I cannot log into ACP to fix the problem.

Next, I need to somehow redirect all users to our new URL: www.swifttacticsgaming.com.

Can someone on the forumotion team fix this?

You got errors in your code

code]<meta http-equiv="REFRESH" content="0;url=http://www.the-domain-you-want-to-redirect-to.com"/>[/code]

Correct one

Errors or not, its in a loop and the site description needs to be reset. Cannot somone simply reset the site description so I can get back into the ACP?

BTW- How can you say there are errors? Your sample does not even have a begin <HEAD> tag and you are missing a ">". So that code above is not valid HTML.

Hi,

You could also access the admin panel via our utilities ( http://www.forumotion.com/en/utils/ ), and directly access the admin panel via there, and remove the content from the site description Wink
