In progress Adds on forums

Post by Pajman on April 1st 2011, 5:51 pm

I see that some members are saying that adds can be removed buy going to the ACP and only showing them to guests? but it seems from what is said here that you have to pay? does anyone have a definitive answer? This is what Mario said

You will need to be in the founder account to turn it to guest. General // Configuration // WHo can see ads // Guest // Save

I was also told that this only applied to the old forum? so can someone tell me how old?

Hi, this option is only available to old forums which have been created before October 2010 I believe. The only way to remove advertisements is to purchase credits to remove them. Smile

Thank you for the reply.

So are you saying that if a forum was created before October 2010 then you don't have to pay for the removal of the adds?

Forums created before October 2010 will still have advertisements, but they would have the option of setting it to be displayed guests only. Here is a picture of what it looks like:

You will still have to purchase credits if you want to remove the advertisements for guests. Wink

Are you sure that your forum was created in July last year? If so, please check to see if you've got the option by following the instructions you posted in your first post.

Wait... so what's the problem? If it's already set on guests, how come you paid for the removal of advertisements? :/

I paid because I thought I had to? but I was looking on here for something else and came across a thread about adds and thought I could answer ? but that's when I discovered that maybe I shouldn't have paid? because if what your saying is correct then I have paid for no reason?

It appears to be the case if advertisements were activated for guests only. I, too, thought it was strange if you paid for the removal when you already had it set on guests only. scratch

I think we are talking at a little cross purposes? I hadn't done anything about the adds at all, I assumed I would have to pay so that's what I did, and then latter looking on here I found what I thought was telling me that I didn't need to? I hope that makes it a little clearer

Well, yes you didn't need to pay for the removal of the adverts because you had the guest option all along.

I can't guarantee anything, but you can try PMing Typlo for assistance on this matter. Here is his profile: http://help.forumotion.com/u6001

Please note that he is very busy and you may need to PM him every 24 - 48 hours if you are not getting a response. Smile

If you read the whole post it seems that it depends when you started the forum?
