Solved Posts getting lost during sending

Post by Scarlett Johansson on April 15th 2011, 8:56 pm

Several users of my forum complain about their posts getting lost after they hit the send button - the page coming up as "not found" or "forum too busy". It hasn't happened to all users, but to quite a number. Is there anything I can do on my end to fix this?

Probably a temporary bug with the server. There's nothing you can do on your end. Come back if it still is happening in a couple of days.

The bug isn't going away. I've resynchronized the forum, and it seems fewer posts are getting lost now, but it still happens. Any further tips?

Ask them to clear cache etc. If possible ask them to take screenshots of the errors they receive on posting.

Also, please find the browsers on which they get these problems.

I dont know if its the same, but two of my members say that when they enter a long message it seems like they are getting timed out. Is there something common with these problems? Is there a time out setting for writing a post? All I can see to even question is clicking yes to autosaving drafts.

Thanks a lot, Sanket.

Told my members what to do. So if this thread could still be kept open until I get their replies that would be great.

Check and see if you have flood control on ,and also if they are saving it as a draft instead of submitting/sending the post, then they can find the drafts in there profile options.

Other then that like sanket said we would need to see screen shot of the error thats coming up.

It must have been linked to the issue we had during the weekend, I'll keep on eye on this topic.

Solved Re: Posts getting lost during sending

Seems the problem has been solved. No posts reported missing anymore; unfortunately not a lot of feedback to my question about browsers. (For what it's worth: the one poster with lost posts who reported her browser uses Internet Explorer. Two Firefox users and one Safari user said they never lost a post - oh, and add me to the happy Firefox users who didn't have a problem...)

Sorry not to be able to be of more help regarding your error search - and thanks a lot for the quick and helpful replies. From my side, this topic is solved.
