Show/not show banned users post content
First topic message reminder :
Hello.
Wouldnt be a really nice thing that when we ban someone we could choose if we want that his posts will be shown or not?
Im gonna explain why this would be very useful:
Imagine this situation:
You have a forum and you ban someone, and that person creates another account into your forum and start spamming the whole forum...
The ideal thing would be that we could delete all users posts with just a click (this can be done in pure PHPBBs), but, nowadays, Forumotion doesnt have that option...
So, the other option to prevent a spam attack would be the thing I am suggesting here: have an option where we could choose if that banned user posts will be shown or not.
If we choose 'no', when a banned user post appear, it would say something like "The content of this post is not shown because his author is actually banned"
But we can also have other situation, imagine it: we have a good member, but, for certain reason, he gets angry and start having a bad behaviour, so you have to ban him...
It is possible that we dont want to hide is posts (because there are good ones, only the last post are bad, so we just delete that four or five bad posts, for example), so, in this case, we would have to choose 'no' in the "hide user posts" option.

Don't you think this suggestions serves the same purpose?

Re: Show/not show banned users post content
Well, it would be really nice if techs adds that option, but, as an intermediate step, this suggestion would be also nice, because, I guess its easier to code a "hide post" option than a "delete all member post" option...
The "delete all member posts" would require to execute an SQL query (more work for the database) , but if you only hide them, you wouldnt need to do that and users wouldnt see offensive posts of banned people and so, although, obviously, I would like very much to have a "delete all member posts" button, but this hide post option would be an intermediate step, while we wait for a massive post deletion button that you mentioned above

I'd agree with this if it was about post getting deleted when you delete the member.

Stop bumping, it's annoying. Anyways, imagine or what if, I don't think that is an attitude to have if you want this to be added. We need to see this happen if you want more votes, including my vote.

Suggestions get pushed down the page a lot, lots of people don't even notice them, I only noticed this because it was bumped. So keep this bumping!
I voted yes, Forumotion could have so much improvments, and even little things like this that a lot of people probably won't use, would help them. This would be a wonderful tool for moderating. The moderators need more power, deleted posts one by one is just decreasing there power and people will see just how powerless we are. It would probably bring more spammers if you have a big forum.
but even though I don't necessarily need this, lots of people have big forums and are running through Forumotion.
So big YES from me, and please add this Forumotion.

I voted yes but have another suggestion, maybe all posts from banned users could be moved to a separate section.
of course any replies made by other users with the quote system are still going to be available
