email link address is all wrong

Ok, so members are PM each other on the site, or subscribed to threads. They get the email that points them to where they need to go on the site, and the address is not correct.
All the address on the link is correct except it misses the www. off the beginning for some reason.

So for example, a user sends me a PM, and I get the email with the link enclosed. I click the link The address is ok, except for the lack of www. so I need to put it in manually to make the link work.

So where is the setting for this? I want to fix it obviously.

There is no option. Users must put www. but it shouldn't matter because it should pick up the site anyways.

Actually I have a similar problem beause when a user asks to be "notified of any replies" the forum sends him an email with a link to the topic, but because it misses out the WWW bit he is sent to the forum "home page" instead of the intended topic. Any ideas on how to fix this problem would be very much appreciated. By the way im using my own url of www.suzuki-intruder.co.uk

not been funny, but whats the point in that when there's already a topic on the exact same thing, that unfortunately wasn't really given a fix to anyway ?.

If I start a new topic on the exact same thing does it mean i'll get a solution to the problem ?.

Its called high-jacking some else's topic and the user never responded, so the answer was never really given.
