Solved Missing breadcrumb navigation at top of forum, but exists at bottom

Post by fofx on June 8th 2011, 5:14 pm

On this page: http://fmta.forumotion.com/f1-financial-markets-and-trading-analysis

you can see breadcrumbs at the bottom of the post list, but not at the top. As the posts grow this means users will have to scroll to the bottom just to navigate back to the forum. How can I add breadcrumbs to the top of the post list too?

Many thanks,
Fofx

oh, and also, does anyone know where the string "Global announcement&Announcement & Sticky [1]" comes from and why it is appearing on the page in the forum header (same link as above)?

Hi,

Could I ask what your forum version is?
We can modify the bread crumbs (IE: new posts no new posts ect) to the top via templates.

As far as the whole "Global announcement&Announcement & Sticky [1]" part, I have no idea where it came from, but I have a feeling it's from your templates, because you don't have a topic there.
It should technically only appear once you have a sticky or announcement on that particular board, Ill have to run a few idea's through to confirm whats making it occur, otherwise Ill need to get a copy of a template from you.

Theme verion is PunBB (punbb). Is that what you meant? If not, can you tell me how I can find the forum version?

...and how can I send you a copy of the template? Also,I do have a sticky announcement on that forum, but I don't understand why that string should appear, after all, there are lots of non-sticky threads too.

Thats perfect thank you Very Happy

If you could go here please: Admin panel >> Display > Templates/General > Viewforum_body, and locate the code {INDEX_BODY},
In the line below it, insert this code

Code:
<!-- BEGIN switch_legend -->
<ul class="pun-legend">
   <li><img src="{FOLDER_NEW_IMG}" alt="{L_FOLDER_NEW_IMG}" /> {L_FOLDER_NEW_IMG}</li>
   <li><img src="{FOLDER_HOT_NEW_IMG}" alt="{L_FOLDER_HOT_NEW_IMG}" /> {L_FOLDER_HOT_NEW_IMG}</li>
   <li><img src="{FOLDER_LOCKED_NEW_IMG}" alt="{L_FOLDER_LOCKED_NEW_IMG}" /> {L_FOLDER_LOCKED_NEW_IMG}</li>
</ul>
<ul class="pun-legend">
   <li><img src="{FOLDER_IMG}" alt="{L_FOLDER_IMG}" /> {L_FOLDER_IMG}</li>
   <li><img src="{FOLDER_HOT_IMG}" alt="{L_FOLDER_HOT_IMG}" /> {L_FOLDER_HOT_IMG}</li>
   <li><img src="{FOLDER_LOCKED_IMG}" alt="{L_FOLDER_LOCKED_IMG}" /> {L_FOLDER_LOCKED_IMG}</li>
</ul>
<!-- END switch_legend -->

Now hit the save button and then the and it should work.

As far as the Global announcement&Announcement & Sticky [1] part poping up, is because those topics are either stickied, or announcements. To remove it, just untick them from their sticky or announcement option, by opening the topic, and hitting the "Announcement" or "Sticky" button so it's un-ticked & publish the post again.

I cannot find the string "{INDEX_BODY}" in the HTML code for viewforum_body, so not sure where I should paste the HTML you provided. I see:

Code:

<!-- BEGIN switch_user_logged_in -->
<div id="pun-visit" class="clearfix">

That appears to have added forum buttons indicating new posts etc, but it has not added the breadcrumbs?

No problem. I assume you mean

Code:
<div class="pun-crumbs">
   <p class="crumbs"><a href="{U_INDEX}">{L_INDEX}</a><strong>{NAV_CAT_DESC}</strong></p>
</div>

I have added this and it has now worked.
