In progress Forum breaching TOS

Post by sickoftheinsults3 on June 8th 2011, 9:07 pm

I would like to complain about a forum which was recently set up. The admin of the forum was banned from Yuku and their site was closed due to abusive threads and going against TOS. They have since found forumotion and set up another site... Copying over threads from the previous forum and also adding more venomous threads. The content of this forum is disgusting.

http://turkishchatter.forumotion.co.uk/

A litigation report was sent but nothing has been done.

Please sort this out.
Thanks

Yes I heard that from somebody else today. My reasons for wanting to have the forum closed are that it contains a lot of very insulting and disgusting threads which I feel have no place on this website, or in fact, on the WWW.

Now that it appears to contain a virus as well there is all the more reason for it to be removed. Is there a way to ensure that forumotion admin see this?

Thanks

The horrible threads weren't posted by that user. They were the admin, and others.

Hi,

It may take up to 120 Hours (5 days)before anything happens, because of the sheer volume of multi-lingual complaints the litigation's team handles.
If there is no action, the team considered it to be A-OK for that particular visit.

I'm sure the big boss will pop in here and do the necessary to confirm, and ban the forum on the spot if it's deemed necessary.

I hope so... I think it is very worrying if it's left up there.

Edit... sorry about the consecutive posting I didn't realise. Please could you have a look at the forum in question?

By the way when you go on it Google is warning that it contains a virus. So don't go on it if you are not Forumotion admin or have the proper protection.

Posting consecutively is not tolerated unless separated by 24 hours since the last post. In future, just use the edit button! Wink

We will now have to wait for the results.

i dont see anything indicating violations, but i have not went through the forum or joined either?

I am not coming up with any virus alerts so it was probably a false positive that happened from one of the adds, Anyway if you can send me a couple links and or screen shots of the violations i can pass it alone to try to help speed up the process. other then that we would just have to wait for litigation to receive and investigate the matter.

It seems the virus issue was only happening in Google Chrome.

On forumotion terms of service it states:

"Illicit contents
Forums that does welcome or promote warez, piracy, hacking, cracking, spamming, attacks against networks or servers, pornography, racial hatred, crimes against humanity, inappropriate activities on the servers, or any other actions which violate any applicable laws, aren't allowed."

http://www.forumotion.com/en/create-forum/terms-of-service.htm

According to www.website-law.co.uk

"Defamation is all about reputation, and in particular about statements which damage others' reputations. The English courts have not settled upon a single test for determining whether a statement is defamatory. Examples of the formulations used to define a "defamatory imputation" include:.

an imputation which is likely to lower a person in the estimation of right-thinking people;
an imputation which injures a person's reputation by exposing him to hatred, contempt or ridicule;
an imputation which tends to make a person be shunned or avoided.
A statement that a person is an adulterer, a gold-digger or a drunkard may be defamatory, as may an allegation of corruption, racism, disease, insanity or insolvency."

http://www.website-law.co.uk/resources/website-libel.html

Therefore, the website mentioned above is presumably breaking the law and breaching forumotion terms of service. Many of the threads on that forum could cause serious damage to a person's reputation.

It has been 2 weeks since the complaints were sent to litigation. Is there something else that should be done to help things along?

I sent your report to the pro admin, now, all you need to do is to wait. Please understand that they are not only getting complaints on the English forums, but also on the other languages so they may get a lot of complaints and a lot of forums to review for banning.

Yes I do understand... Only the posts are getting worse and worse and I believe the site should be shut down immediately.

I am aware that MANY complaints have been sent about this particular forum.

Thank you for responding.
