Creating an entirely new website

Post by TerryAhn on July 8th 2011, 11:40 am

My forum is

www.lolaustralia.com

and I want to move to a stronger website to host features for a game this forum was made for such as ladders, rankings, etc. It will cost a lot more money but I think it's time I did it.

I want to know if and how I can transfer things over to the new website. Mostly domain name and Forum date. I plan to get vbulletin or invision power for the forum on my website, is there anyway I can move all the data?

Also is there a way I can have people redirected to the new website via the current domain name.

You can't transfer your forum's posts or members to any other forum version because you don't have access to the database.

And the redircetion is easy:
Code:
<meta http-equiv="refresh" content="2;url=http://yournewurl.com/">

Change the number 2 to the amount of time to be waited until the redirection, and url to your new url.

Same domain for a new website you are planning to make make? If you bought this domain name by Forumotion, I think you should contact the admins to get all the rights of the domain for you, so you can use it and transfer to another host.
