Solved Domain Transfers and deletion.

Post by Paradox RP July 10th 2011, 8:42 pm

Sorry but when will the domain transfer things be allowed again? Forumotion is great if you just need a simple forum but I need more than you guys can offer so I am going to be moving my site to a paid host. I really would like to take my domain as I have paid for it. I realise that the godfather has stated that you are no longer offering this so I present another question. If I "delete" The domain I brought in my control panel what do you guys do with it? Do you resell it or what?

What do you mean its better to wait? Till when? The message posted about the transfers sounded like they may not even be back.
I don't mean to rant but at I can't have my domain. Its not like I am moving a another free host. I am starting to feel cheated.

I am not justifying forumotion's actions. But, you had the option of buying a domain name outside forumotion.

The Godfather wrote:Hello,

In order to reorganize the support forum, and to investigate on the causes and consequences of domains tranfert on our services, we have decided to temporarily suspend outgoing domains transfers.

Therefore, no transfer request will be accepted during the month of June, July and August 2011. This period may be extended.

We apologize for the inconvenience

Cordially king

The domain won't expire till next year. So that won't work.

And yes I did have the option to buy outside of forumotion but I had already brought the credits so it made perfect sense to use them instead of forking out yet more money.

Godfather, if you read the first post you will see that I had read that and understood. My question was not only about transfers, but also what happens after deletion of a domain name.
If you resell it after it is deleted from a site, I am happy to pay for it. (As long as it is an acceptable price.)

I would like this answered by the godfather because he actually works for forumotion. Where as the mods here seem to just want to lock the post as soon as they can.

I am being treated very unfairly, as are the other people waiting for their domains.

Solved Re: Domain Transfers and deletion.

Post by Darren1 July 13th 2011, 11:39 am

Hi,

Sanket, and our fellow members & Staff members can only pass on what information they are given; until they are given something, the can only give Nothing.
The Godfather is high up in the company, and is a temporary lesion; which is why he cannot do domain transfers - He has other things to worry about, as he is situated with the developers themselves, he is directly associated with the daily running and continuation of our forums.

It appears, according to his post above that no transfers can occur until August at the earliest. TT

Once a doamin is expired, you are given about 7 days to reclaim it. Once that has surpassed, the domain is marked as "Absent" and is on the way to being allowed to be re-used, which will generally take 30 or so days.
However, if you were to delete your current domain, for example domain.com, and it didn't expire until ... 22 June 2012, the domain would not be able to be reused until July/August 2012. This is because the domain must run through it's purchased period, then be sent to be recycled, and possibly reused.

From then, you may re-purchase the domain.

ForuMotion will never re-sell your domain name, neither with your personal information that was used within your forum & during the domain purchase!
