I would like to be able to take away their ability to ban members and still give them the ability to moderate. Voted yes.

That is one thing you can do.

Administration Panel > General > Forum > Security > Disallow Moderators To Ban Members > Yes > Save
I meant only for specific usergroups.

I would like to be able to allow for limited administrators. Like any changes the limited administrators makes must be approved by the regular admins.

That's a good idea, but not quite what this feature focuses on.

True, but if we are talking about moderators then we might as well include administrators since they have more power to do things.

you have my vote i think with most forums you can set who dose what and how its done we are a bit slow when it comes to a real mods like a MCP and giving rights to our staff

Used to have a forum that have control panel for moderator and admin can set the control panel on different groups created and allow certain group to be activated as Moderator.
