COPPA registration feature?
COPPA Registration.
hmm. I think users should have the COPPA registration feature so that if members are over or under 13, they can either join or not join the forum without the parent's permission. What do you think?
Re: COPPA Registration.
You can put an age filter on your registration. Personally I think age filters are stupid. Anyone can lie about their age. Censorship is stupid in general. Voted no.

Re: COPPA Registration.
I believe there is already a system for this, becuase there is an option to set up a form for parents to fill out.

Kevin : Get a brain or piss off
(And that's the polite version too)
I'll be voting No myself as well. Reason : Censorship just increases the desire to do it anyway. Examples are plenty, so there's no need to develop that point. Secondly, it's up to parents to be responsable for their kids, not us! Finally, there's nothing stopping people from lying about their age...

It's not about ASKING about people's credit card number! Are you MAD?
Re: COPPA Registration.
its a common way of age certification but not a good one if you put an age limit people lie about their age simple as that their are few ways to certify someones age
Re: COPPA Registration.
Age certification for membership is only useful in one way - it covers your bum. It doesn't stop anyone joining, though. Look at it this way, pr0n sites don't put you must be 18 to enter on their sites because they care, neither do vod services ask for an age check because they care. They do it so if anyone complains about their sprogs doing something they shouldn't they can turn around and go look "there is a button blocking their way, it's not our fault they lied."
It really is in the parents domain to watch over their kids, and other than bum covering I see little point to this. Furthermore, you can do enough at the moment anyway.

Re: COPPA Registration.
I am not a legal expert, thus I recommend FM should consult legal services in this matter.
From my interpretation, Forumotion is required to comply with COPPA, even though it is not hosted in the US.
From COPPA's website:
"Websites that are collecting information from children under the age of thirteen are required to comply with Federal Trade Commission ( FTC ) Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA)."
And from the FTC (Federal Trade Commission):
"Foreign-based websites must comply with COPPA and the Rule if they are directed to children in the United States, or if they knowingly collect personal information from children in the U.S. The definition of “operator” under both COPPA and the Rule includes foreign-based websites that are involved in commerce in the United States or its territories. As a related matter, U.S.-based websites that collect information from foreign children also are subject to COPPA and the Rule."
Voted yes.
Though I do agree that this is ineffective, I am only interpreting the law as I see it.
