Making forumotion more convenient for advertising

Post by PA on July 29th 2011, 4:06 pm

This is a relatively small thing, but it bugs any advertisers on our forum. Guests can't post links for some odd reason. I'd really like for this to be fixed, as it leads to advertising problems.

That is designed for a security reason. So it won't be fixed!

I would not want guests to post on my forum. If they want to post, they can register and join in the discussions.

Yeah but it would be nice to have the option for those crazy (or serious) enough. Almost every forum on different hosts allows guests to advertise in one forum.

You know what, I want guests to post links. Why? Well, it's simple really.

Ever heard of a roleplay forum? Let me give you all a hint, there are TONS of them. You know what roleplay forums live off of? Advertising. These sites link back and forth with each other through, you guessed it, guest accounts. This security measure is making tons of people flat out rage. Everyone with proboards and invisionfree gets out with no problem, but they shut down advertising for Forumotion sites because of this 'security' update. I say it should be a option for an admin to enable it or disable it. Not something that it completely unable to change. Spam isn't a big deal anyways, why? Well, it's called being a admin and having a set group of staff. Somebody posts spam? No problem. Delete it. If the spam is bad, then ban the user and IP Address. Not make a update that messes some of us up.

This update makes me sadface :c
