Sub Links
Sub Domain
I think it would be pretty neat to have them Forumotion.
If you have no idea what I'm talking about well here's an example.
Example
Mysite > http://computalks.com
Sub Link > http://help.computalks.com
Forumotion would make more money if they could allow us to make more forum pages for like helping for your site or gaming forums.
I think it would be pretty cool.

Re: Sub Domain
The support forum is not really a sub domain. It is a forum just like ours.

Re: Sub Domain
Yes, the support forum is a normal Forumotion forum that has got the address of 'help'.

Re: Sub Domain
It's still a sub domain of forumotion.com, like any Forumotion forum. He wants us to be able to make our own sub domains like "http://www.gallery.creative-nation.net/" or whatever.Base wrote:Yes, the support forum is a normal Forumotion forum that has got the address of 'help'.
I'm in agreeance with the idea, there's no reason why we shouldn't be able too.

Re: Sub Domain
It's already possible to create sub-domains ( eg. raze.purchased-domain.com ) and use 'em on your forum.
You just need to have full control of your TLD and web hosting not provided by ForuMotion, create the sub-domain and use it on your FM board.

Re: Sub Domain
Yeah, but you're screwed over if you purchased your domain through Forumotion, which is how most users have purchased their domains.Master Marc wrote:It's already possible to create sub-domains ( eg. raze.purchased-domain.com ) and use 'em on your forum.

Re: Sub Domain
I totally want this! YES YES YES! The subdomain could be a normal html page. You could choose to give it forum header and footer or not, etc.
Re: Sub Domain
Well, what it should be is you should be able to type in a word before your domain, and then give it a URL to make the sub domain.hoodedwarbler12 wrote:I totally want this! YES YES YES! The subdomain could be a normal html page. You could choose to give it forum header and footer or not, etc.

They should be able to buy their domain from ForuMotion. ( don't know if they found a replacement for Typlo yet.. )LH Justin wrote:Yeah, but you're screwed over if you purchased your domain through Forumotion, which is how most users have purchased their domains.

Re: Sub Domain
Yeah I know. But it can't just be blank, so it could be an HTML page at that address.LH Justin wrote:Well, what it should be is you should be able to type in a word before your domain, and then give it a URL to make the sub domain.hoodedwarbler12 wrote:I totally want this! Doesn't the webmail.yoursite.com count as a subMaster Marc wrote:It's already possible to create sub-domains ( eg. raze.purchased-domain.com ) and use 'em on your forum.

So we should be able to get others.

Re: Sub Domain
We can still buy domains, but not transfer them. Typlo is the transfer guy. I agree with LH Justin's comment.Master Marc wrote:They should be able to buy their domain from ForuMotion. Re: Sub Domain
You can still request free transfers. The Godfather does it now. Transfer requests are sent to Managers and we pass them on to him.Master Marc wrote:They should be able to buy their domain from ForuMotion. Re: Sub Domain
You have high hopes. Sure, I also had high hopes for template editing for phpBB3 about a year ago,Raze wrote:Doesn't the webmail.yoursite.com count as a sub

Think about it this way. The company is about creating forums.
By creating multiple sub-domains for who knows what reason, where will they be redirected to? A website? The last website I tried to build on ForuMotion got deleted without reason ( not banned by OG, but permanently removed from the Internet ) because there was no forum.
They aren't going to do things individually for certain forum owners ( I'm not talking about the contents of this suggestion being accepted due to a certain member ) . If your domain was up for sub-domain creations, then everyone, and let me repeat, everyone could have created a sub-domain from the administration control panel of their forumotion forum with the respectful domain that you purchased & wanted to use yourself ( like the others which forumotion offers ) .
Free? When I requested for my EPP code, I had to pay a small fee Via PayPal... Maybe now that's been changed...LH Justin wrote:You can still request free transfers. The Godfather does it now. Transfer requests are sent to Managers and we pass them on to him.
Anyway, back to the topic : Your best bet is sending a message to one of the "FM Managers" ( Justin for example ) , get your domain free and create your own sub-domains yourself. Go with NameCheap as your domain registrar if you're willing to get full control of your TLD. They provide awesome support and they're very friendly.
