Solved Need help tidying up this space

Post by gonebush on August 1st 2011, 4:10 am

I wish to tidy up my the top of my forum and condense the top by removing or moving the date\time, mark all forums as read etc. I want to bring the start of my categories up so there isnt as much white space between the categories and logo

Is this possible?

thanks for any help.

Bump- can someone please take a quick look at my forum. Notice the white space between my logo and the start of the categories. I want to tidy this up. I managed to hide the date\time but need help hiding or moving the rest.

Thanks

Not the easiest of ones to answer as most are styled by class (which means you get knock on effects), and one is pure javascript (the time and date).

http://help.forumotion.com/t93614-removing-current-time-date-from-phpbb-3

will remove your time and date.

Code:
ul.linklist{display:none;}
p.right.rightside{display:none;}

will remove the rest. Please note that the linklist class refers to the buttons at the top (view answered, etc) and the buttons underneath. There may also be other associations I'm not seeing, as I'm quite tired. The "display:none" will remove the space the element takes up, instead of just hiding it.

Thanks Coco Moco. Your code worked well. Whilst i was waiting for a response i found a css code under "tips and tricks" which was helpful but also deleted other stuff. Your code was a lot simpler and worked much better. Smile

If someone wouldnt mind taking another look at the forum now. www.gonebush.org.
I still have the grey line above the categories, is there a code that can hide\remove this? I can live with it but would look better if it was gone.

cheers

Do you have something in your homebox? I think a script for current date and time removal. Move it elsewhere if so and it will be gone.

H Nera

i have this in my homebox
<script type="text/javascript">
jQuery('#main-content>p:contains("Current date/time")').remove();
</script>

i just tried removing that script but all that happened was the time and date re-appeared but on another line above the grey line, so i ended up with 2 lines.

any more suggestions? Very Happy

Try moving the script into ACP=>Modules=>javascript codes management

Make sure to make the script available on all pages, so it still gets rid of time and date.

That grey line should be your homebox line. Add something in your homebox AP > Display > Homepage > Generalities > Message content > and see what happens (something below the script you have there)

Code:
<a href="INSERT YOUR LINK HERE class="postlink" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">NAME TO BE DISPLAYED INSTEAD OF LINK INSERT HERE</a>

U can use BB tags there. They'll also work.

That's quite weird that it doesn't disappear. That box won't appear for me unless I have something in it Very Happy I'm glad you've found a use for it, though Smile
