Solved Move the forum down

Post by TruthSayer on August 8th 2011, 11:25 am

I've recently uploaded a background that makes it so I don't have to have a logo, so I've deleted the logo. Only problem is, is that I'd like the forum moved down so the wording on the background is more visible (like a logo). Confusing, I know, and I don't have a screen shot (my software is crap), but I'll include a link to my site so you can see what I'm talking about.

I'm also wondering if there's a way to fix the background so that it looks the same on every browser/monitor?

Please help, and thank you in advance.

the easiest thing may be to blank your background and take your header image and set it as a background, that way it will be moved down and will look the way you want it to Smile It may be an idea as well to have a transparent background for the text so you don't get any weird stuff with browser resizing.

I believe I've done this (it's uploaded in General/Explore in the Display section of AP), but it's not moved down? If you mean I need to do something else, I'm not understanding.

What I'm looking for is something like this.

So you want it where the background is fixed, but the forum can move up and down?

Solved Re: Move the forum down

I have the background fixed. The problem is that the forum is over where my words are on the background, and I'd like the forum (navbar and such) to start below the scroll work on the background. I wish I could do a screen capture for you to tell you what I'm seeing, but my software is junk and doesn't work when I want it to. The only thing I can do to give you an example is to have you follow this link to my forum.

I have a floating navbar and I had the same problem.
Input this as your logo (in adminpanel - display - pics management):
Code:
http://illiweb.com/fa/empty.gif
and place this to your css:
Code:
#i_logo{
    height:64px !important;
}
You can increase the number in css Smile
& that's all ^_^

idinafig, you are a genius! It worked perfectly, and I thank you.

Now for the second part of my question: Is there a way to make it so that it looks the same on all computers? Like the different resolutions/screen sizes? (I can use my laptop and the parchment background fits perfectly. I move to my desktop, and I can see where the background is tiled.)

Any way to fix this?

Try this:
Code:
body {
    background-attachment: fixed;
    background-size: 100% auto;
}
You should add this to your css

It's worked with firefox, but still tiles on IE.

And on my desktop the screen shows an awful green before the site loads, and sometimes doesn't load the background at all. Any ideas?

Nowadays nothing works on IE

***And on my desktop the screen shows an awful green before the site loads, and sometimes doesn't load the background at all.***
try changing background color. I can see it's transparent now and old browsers such as IE replace transparency with green color.

Your background may disappear because of servimg's technical problems.

Ah, ok. I haven't used IE in years, but I've heard from other people that it isn't the best.

I'll try to change the background color and see if that works. Thanks so much for your help!

I believe this can now be marked as solved.

Thanks again!
