Solved Co.cc Domain Name Problem?

Post by Ella123 August 9th 2011, 8:33 pm

I'm trying to get my co.cc domain name for my forum, but it doesn't seem to be working, I've searching online for tutorials and how to do it, but it still doesn't seem to be working?

I set it up using the "Zonre Record", the host is my co.cc domain name, the TTL is "1 D", the Type is CNAME, and the value is my current Forumotion sub-domain. When I go to the Admin Panel under General > Forum Address > Personalized Domain Name, and enter in the co.cc domain name I've registered, it tells me this:

"The supplied domain name is not well configured
You have no CNAME redirecting to : theforum.canadian-forum.com
You have configured a A type DNS ( A type redirects to an IP address, and not to a textual domain name like the CNAME )"

I figured I had to wait, and it's been over 48 hours. Any ideas? I'm not an expertise in this area.

Thank you for the link. However, prior to posting I've searched all the tutorials on the board, on Google, and even already looked at that topic, but I'm still confused as to why it isn't working?

Hi,

Is it giving you any error's?
Free domains such as CO.CC have been known to cause troubles with our software in the past and sometimes not work, I'd advise against them, though I do see why u do use it Wink

Oh, that's unfortunate. I guess it just doesn't work, I use it on another site of mine (not a forum), it works perfectly, no ads or anything Smile I could always URL forward, but it changes the favicon to the "co.cc" icon, and makes the title your forum name, and then the "Powered by Co.cc". Fair enough.

Thanks for your help, though Smile
