Live Support

Hey guys and gals.

Um some of you may remember a couple years ago i used to do a thing called live support.
What it was, in when you seen the live support thing in my sig, you could click on that and it would take you to my live support chat box/room.

So i am going to be bringing that back to better try to help more folks as possible and in real live time.

There is one rule however.. I will only do live support for something that is already posted here on the support forum..(And it has to be Your thread/post, not someone else)
So if you catch me when i am live, be sure to have the link that leads to your thread here on support.

The reason for this is the same way as when we lock and solve things, it allows others to see threads that are solved for the same problem they may be having/thus providing them the solution.

So it would be unfair to do support for things that are not posted here, because then whatever the problem? others would not know there is a solution's or see it here.

So thats the only rule.. It will be a day or two before it is set up, but once again when you see i have live support in my sig. It means i am here working and also have my live chat open for any live support i can help with.

Thats a nice idea. Maybe, you should have the link in your signature only when you are online. when you go offline, take out the link

oh yeah thats how i used to do it , link will will only be in the sig when i am here working,
Then if someone pops in i will hear them

I'll kick it of this weekend.. i just have a few things i have t adjust first.

Hey Kirk, is there going to be group chats too?

Also, if support is only limited to questions that have been answered already in this support forum, why don't the user just search?

All this work wouldn't really be needed if the chatbox was enabled at the support forum

Hey mark long time no see.

Um for now i think i will just use a xat, everything is complete i just have to add a couple more facebook options to the page and some other small things.

As far as group chat ? i guess you mean for members.. i dont care if people want to chat in there, they can chat all they want,, but now i am not going to baby sit,
So if i go in there and see inappropriate,bashing or flaming conversations taking place, then they will be permanently kicked, i dont mind other chatting but it's not about that and is just for additional live support when i am on. And i will add a separate chat for group talk so it dont flood out the chat of those i may be providing support to.

I have a few different ways and ideas for things. I may just end up using a stickam.
Then if any support members from here would like to join in they can, and i can also make the mods if they wanted.

As far as the questions, well i will ask for the link to their question and also if it has been searched or search my self, so it it is something here that has already been solved, then i will just direct them to the thread where the info is.

And not sure if you remember last time i did?
But i would have something in my sig saying live support is open.
This will be only when i am here working, so if someone needs help they can just buzz in.
I never had a over whelming amount of people come in before, may like 4 or 5 withing a few hours a night or day i was on.
So i am pretty sure it will be the same.
there will be no forum to join this time, but will have my fascebook page up if people want to friend me their. and if i do go with a stickam then people can friend me their as well if they have a stickam account

Oh and members will also be able to log in to the stickcam as guest without a stickam account as well

So yeah there is still a few things i have to go over as official way of doing it, but it's basically just a small page with a chatbox to help with additional support live when i am here helping as well.

So if you s have any suggestions of course you can post them here.. and of course if any other staff would like to jump in and be involved that would be awesome.

So yeah i should have it open withing the next ten min, and like i said for now it's only a xat but will be using something different as soon as i decide whats best to go with.

I will put something up in the office if other staff support would like to join in as well.
I know most here have a lot going on for what they do now and may not be able to have any other time for it, but i will still come up with a little something if they would like to help out with it as well.

i have it on forumsuccessors, figured since i got the domain i My's well use/do it on their so the forums not going to wast after the whole magazine thing kind of fell through lol.

I mean if i had enough people to help with the mag i could always start it back up.
But for the scale i am talking about it would take a good size staff that had time and a little dedication. i mean it's a lot putting together materials every month for all the categorizes and sections, let alone creating and designing new web pages each month as well.

But with that aside, i did a dry run of live support yesterday for about 6 hours, had a few people and was able to help.. couple problems are still in progress here, but did answer what i could, so that helped.

FYI Russel, Ill have one hooked up for us to use in about 10-15 mins, Ive just got something to sort out first.

He gave me 4 live chatboxes yesterday that would possible to use. But dunno what would it be.

I know stickam has a few different theme's, so I donno lol.

yeah darren stickam has made some improvements since we had it on forum Makers.. of wow.. is that still set as the x-mas theme from last year... hahah

Well Justin has made a nice room to.
It's right under the stickam,and the xat is still there along with the forum successors chat.. so that should be by far enough rooms for me to help with support.

I used to do it before a couple years ago. it's a better set up this time though.

Thanx Rideem3, i have did for a few months before back when cal was admin.
But i like the set up i have and the way Justin plans on improving it way better this time.
Plus we will now have more staff involved with their own rooms cool.
So i think it will help for our support members when we are here and online live

And Mario will have an official announcement in like a week or so, i think he just wants to make sure everything is set and some basic rules stuff like that before he makes it official. Along with having the list of staff members that will be doing it and have rooms.

Oh and mastermark mentioned something about group chat.
I think i will dedicate my stickam room to all members here as a social room.
So people can meet other fellow forumotion forum admins and owners and just hang out and B/S and have fun...of course nothing inappropriate will be tolerated and there will be mods. Base, Darren, Russle are mods in my stickam room now, and i will be adding a few more
But yeah i would like to offer a place to where members can just have a social place as well as us having the other rooms for the live support stuff.

Alright kirk, I wish i could give enough time to take care of the room and to give support to the members who are asking for help. So yeah, thanks kirk.
