Enabling Link Posting for Guests
I was wondering if it is possible to enable link posting for guests on a forum.
I am running a roleplaying forum, for which an advertising section is imperative in order to advertise our forum on other roleplaying forums. If these other roleplaying forums cannot post their site advertisement on my site, my advertisements are likely to be removed from theirs. We moderate all advertisements and do not allow any links that would broach the forumotion TOS.
Is it a standard feature of forumotion to not allow guests to post links, or is this a bug? Any help or suggestions as to how to rectify this problem or find an acceptable alternative would be greatly appreciated.
I would hate to have to switch forum hosts because of this, as Forumotion really is the best forum host in my opinion.
The following is a link to a test guest post on my forum, which included two links and a linked image. As you can see, none of these showed up in the post. Test post is Here.
Thank you in anticipation.
P.S.: I referenced This update post and turned off the option for new members posting links and email addresses, and tested again. The links are still not showing up. The rest of my search for this sort of question or topic didn't turn anything else up, or else I'm missing something really obvious, which is possible.

Third Test post since enabling link posting for new members.
The links still don't show up, unfortunately.

Re: Enabling Link Posting for Guests
Alright. Thank you very much.
If it wouldn't be too much trouble, it would be helpful if you could inquire as to whether there is a way I can circumnavigate this somehow, perhaps through some sort of coding or the like?
If I can't enable link posting for guests, I will have to change hosts, and I love forumotion, so would hate to do that!

There's something I don't understand here...why are these advertisers posting as guests?
If you KNOW who they are due to their advertisements, create accounts for them with their company name, and have them post as members. You get their IP address whether they post as a member or as a guest, so it's not a privacy issue. And as a member, the advertiser gets to use a signature and avatar for advertising, as well as the post content!

Unfortunately, it's not companies, but other forum administrators running roleplaying games. They would likely not have the patience or motivation to create accounts just to post a one-time advertisement. Most 'RP' boards go on massive advertising sprees amongst other boards, and it's expected of a board to have a guest friendly area for this to happen. Without one on my board, I would be unable to promote myself on their boards, and I would likely be bombarded with complaints from these other administrators about their links not working.

Oh wait.... I think I JUST now understood what you're saying, or at least went off on my own similar tangent. That's a brilliant idea! I could make an advertising account and provide the details for it. I could then just set the permissions for that membergroup to only be able to post in the advertising board.
Thank you, sir, even if that's not exactly what you meant. This may be the way around the problem that I was looking for.

it's our new antispam system.
for members: general >> security >> Prohibit registered members for less than a week to post external links and emails >> Yes / No.
for guests: never ever can post a link or email in forumotion forums because of the spam. they only can post text.

So that confirms it, nothing can be done to avoid it now.
