Solved Topics, Sub-Topics, and Sub-Sub-Topics

Post by wastland247 on August 18th 2011, 8:27 am

This is my site:
Spoiler:

This is the site I'd like to look a little more like:
Spoiler:

I have all of the topics and sub-topics I want at the moment but I want it to look a little differently than it does now. For instance I'd like it to have the General in a little bar as though it were a title and then the sub-topic looks more like the main topic, and then the sub-sub-topics would look like the sub-topics. Odds are I'm just making all of this way more complicated than required but I've been tinkering with things for a while and it's not getting any better.

Thank you for any help,
Wastland247

Solved Re: Topics, Sub-Topics, and Sub-Sub-Topics

I did that and I put it on middium in the top one, the on that does not sperate the catagories up, but that's still not what I want. I at least would like for the sub-topic level to be visible. Somthing like this...

Rolepley Section: (I would like this to be somehting like a title and it only be a bar, which is sort of what I have but I don't want the next thing to say Roleplay Section too.)
-The Land of Ooo: (This would be like the second Roleplay Section on my site.)
--Thumbnails for the Sub-Sub-Forums:

Does that make sense? I'm sorry if it doesn't.

I'm sorry if how I phrased what I would like to do poorly. I sometimes have a hard time explaining exactly what I mean when I do not know exactly how to say what it is I'm looking to do. I'm still a little new to this whole forum building, though I have figured out a couple things on my own. I would also like to apologize if my reply to your advice came across as me not apreciating your help, let me assure you that I am very grateful for all help that you or anyone gives me.

Thank you in advance,

Solved Re: Topics, Sub-Topics, and Sub-Sub-Topics

You mean, you want it like this:

    General (just a title)
      Role Playing (just a title)
The Land of Ooo (contains topics)
        Others (contains topics)
        Others (contains topics)

Am I correct?

Something like this:

General
-Rules
-Announcements

Roleplay Section (Just a title)
-The Land of Ooo (What would be the first thread in this catagory)
--Candy Kingdom (A sub thread that is just below the first one)
---Clickable link (A sub-sub-thread that is a clickable link inside the one above's description.)
--Ice Kingdom
---Clickable link

But with more of everything. Does that make sense? If it doesn't let me know and I'll try to word it better.

Then go to Admin Panel > General > Forum > Categories and Forums
Then click the plus icon

To create just a title (for example Roleplay Section):
Choose "Category" when asked "Choose the kind of forum you want:"

To create a subforum (for example The Land Of Ooo) under a specific category (for example Roleplay Section), Click the plus icon again.
Choose "Forum" when asked "Choose the kind of forum you want:".
Choose "Roleplay Section" when asked "Attached to:"

Same goes if you want to create a sub-sub-forum.
Click the plus icon again.
Choose "Forum" when asked "Choose the kind of forum you want:".
Choose "The Lant Of Ooo" when asked "Attached to:"
