I have a group of users on my forum that would like me to add like/dislike buttons to forum posts. These buttons would be much like the YouTube like/dislike buttons. How do I do this? If you need me to elaborate, please say so, and I will.

Since his site is not displaying the contents properly. I guess I can post his instructions here.

First you have to activate the reputation system. (ACP>Modules>Reputation)
Second, you have to paste the code below, to javascript codes
(ACP>Modules>Javascript Codes Management)
Make sure you set the settings to display "In All The Pages"

Mr Brooks as requested the code was removed from your post. Also due to our new rule (Copying without approval) I must give you a serious warning.

Oh I thought it would be alright because he said:

Use, modification, and/or distribution of this script is allowed, provided this entire copyright notice remains in the original, copied, or modified script.

Doesn't the point system help? You can change the looks of the plus and minus there.

No, I didn't say that. The text you copied from a long-deleted post on this board said that. After I saw that post, I changed the copyright notices on all public scripts on my board. It's hard for me to believe that some people would have so little respect for my work that they would paste entire posts elsewhere.

This is the copyright notice in the script in question:

var CopyrightNotice = 'Professional like/dislike bar for forumotion phpBB3 boards. Copyright 2011 by Dion Designs. All Rights Reserved. Use and/or modification of this script is allowed, provided this entire copyright notice remains in the original or modified script. Distribution is not allowed without written consent from Dion Designs.';

@Dion
last time I saw your site this portion wasn't there :

Distribution is not allowed without written consent from Dion Designs.';
...& I believe this mustnt be there. No one is showing disrespect if they show who has created this script; but 'written consent' that is slightly overprotective

The last time I checked your website, the last line on it didn't exist. And the last time I checked, the second to the last line says:
All Rights Reserved. Use, modification, and/or distribution of this script is allowed, provided this entire copyright notice remains in the original, copied, or modified script.

And the last time I checked was just this morning. If you had a sudden change of mind regarding your copyrights, then I can't question that, I respect that. But I wish you wouldn't put someone in trouble for it.

Edited for clarification, and to avoid more posts.

ioncube, I would be happy to discuss my copyright notices via PM as opposed to hijacking topics.

Mr. Brooks, please read your two quotes closely -- the second-to-last sentence in your first quote is NOT what you have in your second quote. I would be happy to discuss this further with you via PM as opposed to hijacking topics.

This forum is phpbb3.
And Dion will not likely write a code for phpbb2, no doubt it will be similar to the punBB version though.

Dion is probably not going to write anything for phpbb2 since the CSS sucks and the whole version is so old.

I suggest upgrading to at least punbb

This board is phpBB3. If it were phpBB2, the new like/dislike button code wouldn't work. I am 100% certain of that. Wink

I really wish forumotion would delete the system FAQ and the FAQ link in the navbar. Even though it is for phpBB2, the system FAQ page is used in all four board types, and at this point it's basically worthless -- it was written in 1999!

The BBcode FAQ is still useful, however.

That is why I took the original FAQ's JavaScript, and edited it. Click here to see it.

Also, can I keep my current forum template, but change forum type?

I would like to do this also!
