Solved centering board on page

Post by felicity4us2 on August 31st 2011, 7:33 am

I posted a similar post to this in the 'Appearance' forums. I am so sorry to bring it now here. I don't know what else to do. I am very happy with our board, except for this problem. I was thinking that maybe we should just 'live' with it looking like this - but, then thought that I would come here one more time with the problem hoping someone here might be able to help. If you need more pictures, let me know.

I believe that this is a problem in the css.

I have done everything I can think of to fix it. The board is 'drifting' to the left - leaving a 'gap' on the right hand side - some members are saying a large one when they are using their phones.

Thanks so much,

Solved Re: centering board on page

Post by felicity4us2 on September 2nd 2011, 8:32 pm

It is okay to write now again?

I am not trying to be a pain - really.

This is a real problem. Members are complaining of -

'sidebars disappearing'
'one side of their board missing'
'seeing only background'

I cannot try to fix it anymore as I fear that I am only going to make it worse.

I think I know what caused the problem. I changed to phpbb, but didn't like it - so changed back to invision. I followed the directions and all went well, except this problem.

I am happy with the board now - no more changes.

here are some images of what it is doing -

No matter what I set the width - only the header changes - not the rest of the board.

Can you help me? Everything else seems to be working fine.

Thank you so much for your patience.

You can't fix it. It's not centered because you have your widgets set up.
I would suggest going to phpbb2. It's much more simple.
I'm afraid you'll either have to live with the theme as it is, or get a completely different one.

Solved Re: centering board on page

Post by Nera. on September 6th 2011, 7:49 am

Hi,

There are a fiew things. First the portal, once landing there is a scroll (the page is to big for the screen and creates a scroll) on it created in .borderwrapm, div.borderwrap {

Or remove the padding and the border of it by adding this to CSS, it will remove the borders and padding.

Code:
.borderwrapm, div.borderwrap {
    padding: 0 !important;
    border: none !important;
}

Or lower the width of it to 95% and the scroll will be gone and the portal will be centered and the borders and padding will stay.

Try also for the front removing this

Code:
#content-container div#content {
    margin-right: 30px;
}

Remove the margin right since it pushes the main content 30px right from the edge so one side is 30px from the edge other no.

First, #content-container div#left {
margin-right: 30px;
}

I added at the advice of coming here. When it didn't work, no one answered me.

Okay - also, now have removed the div.borderwrap,.borderwrapm {
padding:5px;
border:5px solid #034046;
background-color:#17555c;
}

no fix - in fact - i could remove the entire css and it would not fix it - and if I remove the widgets, it won't fix it either.

I am at my wits end. I don't want to lose my board. I am sorry - Is there someone who can help?

Slow down.

This is how your board looks now.

Front page with borders and paddings

And without it

So to get it centered you'd need to follow the first example I gave you.

If those are the problems you want to fix do it.

If you don't make it by your self, PM me a test admin account with login details and I'll do it for you.

Just as info for others. And, thank you for your help

The problem was in the 'announcement box'. We had our navigation bar in there. It was a bit to wide - I guess. hmmm.

Maybe, this will help others. This is solved and our board is back to normal.

Best,
Felicity
