How do i skin the Rep + & -

Post by mdoyle on September 11th 2011, 5:53 am

hello i am using phpbb2 board. i seen a post on here form another members site to add a thumbs up or thumbs down in placement of the + or - for rep. there is no phpbb2 version posted for this script to relocate it to the same area as the thanked button. Or even to skin them in phpbb2. can anyone help me out with a code to implement this on phpbb2?

the post that got me insterested was here.
http://help.forumotion.com/t96360-about-the-new-like-dislike-button-here

i tried the phpbb3 for the heck of it and my + & - just vanish my pics dont show. so anyone know how?

Hi it took me awhile to figure this one out on my page hold on will see if I can find the parts I changed in order to do it. Is your + & - button on the right of the posts?

found my edits, took a lot of searching and asking to figure this out just right so any questions just ask.

Go to display tab in admin control

Scroll down to templates and pick general

View topic body (Good practice is to always copy and save before you edit anything in here)

Find this line that starts with

{postrow.displayed.switch_vote_active.switch_vote.U_VOTE_PLUS}"

Now highlight from the start of the above up to </div>

And replace with this

{postrow.displayed.switch_vote_active.switch_vote.U_VOTE_PLUS}"><img src= “your image url”</a></div>

Obviously replace the “Your image URL” with the picture url you want and drop the quote marks.

After you have done that repeat the steps but this time you are looking for

{postrow.displayed.switch_vote_active.switch_vote.U_VOTE_MINUS}

Again

Copy upto div and replace with

{postrow.displayed.switch_vote_active.switch_vote.U_VOTE_MINUS}">< img src= “your image url”</a></div>

And that should change your pictures, you may need to edit the css to line up the pictures within your post boxes.

i tried the code it doesnt work. it made first image say this image has been deleted or moved. the minus ended up just showing the text. couldnt get that coding to work. for some reason when i hit view page it seems it added a %3qa to my links.

Dion's code(s) are for Invision, phpBB3, and PunBB only. He says he's not going to do any for phpBB2.

phpBB2's CSS and coding is not very good. If you want to add the code, I recommend you switch to phpBB3 Smile

To make a phpBB3 look like phpBB2, simply just remove the rounded corners (ACP >> Display >> Pics). Wink

I just found a link in fourmotion that should help you. It's the same as what I must have done, but lists all the steps you need to make the change.
