No need for a poll for this.

http://w3schools.com/html5/tag_center.asp
http://w3schools.com/html5/tag_font.asp

Every tutorial/update/upgrade/whatever that uses these two HTML tags will, in the near future, stop working. I think it's time to IMMEDIATELY stop using these tags in anything "official" posted to this board, and over time, update older code to not use these tags. In addition, if a staff member sees these tags used in code posted by a member, it would be a good idea for the staff member to point this out.

Well, we use BBC Tags, so unless the one implies the other, there shouldn't be any problems right?

Actually no, BBcode isn't used, or supported for that matter, in widgets, HTML files, or templates. Here's some examples of what I'm talking about. Three of the widgets you see on the right (Shortcuts, Support Forums, Partners) use FONT and CENTER tags. The newest tutorial uses the FONT tag: https://help.forumotion.com/t93456-

All of these examples will stop working when current browsers adhere to HTML5, which from what I've read, will be sometime in the next year. My suggestion is simply for forumotion to prepare for this, not only in its own code and tutorials, but in having the staff watch for members using the FONT and CENTER HTML tags, and point out that they are no longer supported in HTML5.

Thanks for this update, hopefully all of our coding will be fixed to match HTML5 within the necessary time we still have.

well it's not like all the browser are just going to make old tags obsolete, they will support both, it would be years before all older tags are render obsolete, you know how many older sites and so fourth are still set up like that,

and where do we even get a list of tags that will no longer be supported.

I am not even going to sweat it until it takes effect, i mean you spend a good couple years learning basics, then a few years after that being a little more advanced, then they pull crap like this and it's like you have to start all over again.

especially for peeps that are self taught, but guess you have to keep moving forward, cant stay in the dark ages forever... lol

Thanx Dion, even though i am not looking forward to all this, i can imagine how many sites i am going to have to adjust already.. but it will depend on exactly what is no longer supported, i am sure it will just be a matter a few modifications here and there.. Or at least we can hope.

@ spadez.
I think if it's stuff that members have added their self's custom it is something they are going to have to fix, I mean as far as forumotion updating and us staff updating any tutorials here is one thing.. But there is no way we are going to go and help every person that may have some sort of their own coding they added, created or got form somewhere else.

Yeah i hope this dont turn out to be a big mess.. I dont think it will be that bad..Once again we Hope .

Some times all this computer stuff is just a big love hate relationship.. You love to hate them, And hate to love them.
HAHA Dions shaking it all up a bit..
But still good info to know, this has actually been in the works for a while now as well, but I'll burn that bridge when the time comes. I have enough other things to do instead of stressing about that . But will be interesting to see how this all plays out.

dion i dont understand this, they say the tags will no longer work,
But yet they have the same tags in the HTML5 Tags list.
