Solved Annoying popup

Post by benke on Mon 24 Oct - 13:15

After every page is displayed, an annoying popup window that says

Code:
A username and password are being requested by http://www.papermarc.com.au. The site says: "down for maintenance"

is showed, asking for username and password. I believe it is because of some faulty advertising partner. Can anybody check what's going on? Thanks.

That is really weird. It is asking for your computer account information.

Hi go to javascript management and make a new code.
Click in all pages.

And put this in:
Code:

$(function(){
$('iframe').remove();
});

After doing that, does it still come up with pop up?

If not, then your problem IS with an ad.
However you can't leave this code active, because what it is actually doing is removing the ads from your forum.

The reason is that you have something from that website on your forum. If you search for that piece of information within your forum and remove it, your forum will no longer have that pop up.

Also @lgforum - as userful as that is, it will remove all iframes, so it's best to keep that in.

Yup, but checked the users page and the only iframes he has are ads. So it will help in determining the cause at least.

This is true, It'd be best to remove it afterwards though.

I'm thinking that it isnt the ads because it'd be doing it on everyones forum. I have yet to run into a problem with it, and are ads included via Iframe? They have to be harder to remove than that. scratch

Hi!

This is a very strange problem... but whatever you do, do NOT enter your username and password! I don't even know why it's even asking you for your information. Have you added any codes recently which may be causing this? Smile

Well if you go to his page an view source, then search for the phrase 'paper' (as it is included within the pop up text). It isn't within his source code.
So the pop up must be brought from an Iframe.

Are you sure you haven't added any codes? Do you have any idea what this 'papermarc' thing even is? Smile

I can confirm that this isn't an Iframe issue, you added the code and it is still there. Im currently looking at every line of your code. I'll edit / reply if i find something.

It can be part of design, like some external image located on that papermarc server which is now down. i will check if I can find all images that are part of design...

haha! I found your issue before you posted.

Find this in CSS and you need to remove it.

Code:
.headerbar{background-color:#eaedf5;background-image:url(http://www.papermarc.com.au/images/mat-black-lg.jpg);background-repeat:repeat-x;margin-bottom:4px;padding:0 5px}

I removed header background image, I dont know which one was originally. Good point is to store all your images at one server and have backup of them. Thanks everybody for help.
