Solved Changing the Announcement ticker appearance

Post by fr0znsky on October 26th 2011, 5:51 am

Hi,

I was wondering if it was possible to apply an image as the ticker background.
I've tried using...
Code:
#fa_ticker{
background-image: url('http://i587.photobucket.com/albums/ss318/Fr0zNSky/announcementticker.png');
}

... in the CSS stylesheet, and I get this....
Spoiler:

The problem is only the top half of the image appears and the rest is clipped off no matter what changes I make to the ticker size.
Any solutions to coding the ticker so it actually becomes the image or something... or is this a lost cause?

EDIT: Also, I forgot what the coding was to adjust the bottom-margin (more like I deleted it by accident), so I can reduce the space between the ticker and the actual forum below....

Many thanks in advance!

Just add a background position to it.

Code:

#fa_ticker{
background-image: url('http://i587.photobucket.com/albums/ss318/Fr0zNSky/announcementticker.png');
background-position: top left;
}

Alrighty, thank you, that worked, but is there a way to apply the image to the border of the ticker so it looks more complete?

Hi,

Is this what you are trying to get?
http://tiki.makingforum.com/forum

Go to your overall_header template and find this:

Code:
            <!-- BEGIN switch_ticker_new -->
            <div id="fa_ticker_block" style="margin-top:4px;margin-bottom:4px;">
               <table width="100%" border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" class="forumline">
                  <tr>
                     <td {CLASS_TABLE_TYPE} align="left" class="row1">
                        <div id="fa_ticker_container">

Replace it with this:

Code:
<!-- BEGIN switch_ticker_new -->
            <div id="fa_ticker_block" style="margin-top:4px;margin-bottom:4px;">
               <table width="100%" border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" class="fa_ticker">
                  <tr>
                     <td {CLASS_TABLE_TYPE} align="left" class="novo">
                        <div id="fa_ticker_container">

Save and PUBLISH your template on the green cross.

Undo/delete all the things you have added so far to your CSS and add this to CSS.

Code:
.fa_ticker {
    background-image: url("http://i587.photobucket.com/albums/ss318/Fr0zNSky/announcementticker.png");
    height: 66px;
    width: 623px;
    margin: 0 auto;
}

Example of it customized & working on a phpBB2 forum:

Yes, that is exactly what I'm looking for!

I published the change to the overall_header template and I undid everything in the CSS and pasted your change. But, it's still having the image pushed down... did I do something wrong?

I don't see the changes in your templates. If you did not make it you can send me the login details via PM so I can do it for you.

I published the template, I even got the green text... Is there anything else I would have to do after that?

If it would not be too much of a bother, I would appreciate it if you could take a look at it. I'll send the PM.
