Solved Problems With Inappropriate Posts

Post by drachemeister October 27th 2011, 9:54 pm

I've been having problems with unknown guests posting very inappropriate links on my Forum. Due to the type of Forum it is, I can't just lock everything to guests, because there is a section for new members to apply to my alliance in a game (the Forum is designed as a meeting place for the members of an alliance in an online game, and there is a place for people to apply to the alliance).

Is there any way I can stop this mass posting of inappropriate links on my Forum without hindering new players from applying to my alliance through the Forum?

Hi!

If the guest posts inappropriate posts on your forum, find out their IP by clicking the IP button on their post and then ban it in the admin panel. Smile

I've tried that. They come from multiple IPs, and it's impossible to ban them all. It's almost as if a spam bot is posting them.

Please read the author's post carefully; they have said that they do not wish to disable the permissions for guests. Smile

As for your problem, have you tried word censoring those links?

I did. It seems the problem has resolved itself for now. There have been no posts since I re-opened the section I was having problems in. This post can be closed for now. If I have problems in the future, I will continue word censoring the posts, which seemed to lull it a bit last time.
